Sprint have a wireless satalite service, I was working on a guys lappy with it the other day. He had a PCMCIA card with a cell phone like antenna. Service cost him about $88 I think. No TV with it tho.

That's not satellite, and you can get the same service from Tmobile for $20

totally diffrent. Cingulars is GPRS, which offers about 40KBs (theoretically). And Sprints is acutally 802.11b 11Mbps (peak speeds) cpu/card/air supporting.
Big BIG BIGGGG speed diffrence. And apparently they only have a few hotspots. I know they have other data services, but their site is badly organized. not a bad price though.

No, Sprint uses CDMA, not Wifi.

    Sprint Connection Cards

    Specs for each card:
    Merlin C201
    CF 2031
Sierra Wireless PC3300 - Now, this card also has wifi, which is I think what confused you
    Sierra Wireless Aircard 550
