    Antenna

    Multipurpose antenna

I have seen a few antenna in the past on the forums here but there seams to be few problems with the database or something at the moment.

I am looking for an antenna that will be suitable for GSM, GPS, 802.11g, TV, radio and Bluetooth.

I think I am asking a lot, but has anybody herd of such a beast.

    Thanks

Hope the forums are back to normal soon, they are a great source of information.

No ONE antenna will do all of these tasks well.
Antenna are 'tuned' (length, shape, etc) to the frequency range of the receiver they're connected do.

Compound atenne will 'bundle' two or more antennas on one footprint. my Passat has GPS, FM, Cell atenna all in one footprint. -- close inspection yields the three components.

    Sure there is...

Here is the best one i have found.. www.hirschmann.com check out the GPS 2400 model this one doesnt have an am fm antenna but it does have a GPS, Cellular, Bluetooth and 802.11 antenna! As for the am fm if you live in a city like myself, you dont need much of an antenna you can actually cut the coax to your antenna and strip back about 20 inches of the black jacket and cut away the sheilding, leave the plastic coating on the center conductor, and poof you have an antenna! Hirschmann also has an antenna model GPS 918 V FLEX, this antenna supports AM/FM, GPS, and cellular of all flavors..

Ehh it looked cool, hehe still does...

Anyway... Yea i have a computer that runs a cellualr wireless internet card, a regular 802.11X wirless network card, gps, and a WINRADIO card that covers 500khz to 1.5Ghz, comes in handy when you need to peep in on the police frequencies, not to mention its cool to listen in on everyones cell phone when your driving, (but I dont do that its agenst the law)

    GPS 918 V FLEX

I currently have that installed on my vehicle. Can't say much about the am/fm performance since i did not have a chance to hook that up yet, mismatch of connector types which I am still trying to figure out.

Anyway, as far as GPS, umm, its pretty good. I got it paired with a Garmin 15H and satelite lock is good, 12 of 12 many times. My only complaint, and I do believe this problem is due to my 5M long extension cable which i plan on getting rid of once the weather warms up, is that while driving, it does not take a lot of foilage to loose the gps lock. Other then that, nice unit. Sealing mechanism could be better. ended up adding silicon to be certain of a water tight seal.
