Yeah, maxstream's wireless modems are great for sending data. I've used other companies but they either cost a ton more for the same features or they don't work very well. They have a 1-watt radio that they say can go 40 miles. I haven't needed to send anything that far, but it is good to know that you can get that power for a couple hundred bucks.

Cool I didnt see any prices. Where did you get a price?

I am a communications engineer and design radio networks using 902-928 MHz spread spectrum, frequency hopping radios. The product I like is made by Microwave Data Systems, the MDS iNET. It has a 1 watt power output and when we use it with a 3 dB coil loaded antenna or a "hockey puck" low profile antenna we get 5-10 miles range to an Access Point.

These are encrypted, change frequencies every 7 milliseconds and have one ethernet port and you can add two additional serial ports by turning on a software option in the radio.

Right now I am designing a few systems for county sherrif's departments in Georgia (right north of Atlanta) and in a few other states in the southeast.

An iNET AP lists at $2450 and a ethernet remote at $1750.

I am not selling, but this is what I am going to put in my ride (2006 Mercedes C350 on order right now)
