Motorola mpx220 on Cingular

I have a motorola mpx220 as I'm sure you could guess, and I've looked around on here for anyone who has gotten online with it and didnt see anything, I tried what it said in the owners manual on how to connect to GPRS and I cant see to get it online. If anyone here has the phone or knows what I should do to get it online, any help would be apriciated. Has anyone gotten it to work with PhoneControl yet? My phone will call people, I dont think I can talk to them, but I can hear them, it wont connect to phone book, get sms, or any other tools. Help is gladly apriciated. Thanks

Man, I hope it works w/ PhoneControl because that's one major thing I want it for. Also the internet via GPRS..

I will keep a close eye on this thread.

I also have the MPx220, but I cannot afford the $20/month unlimited data plan right now.

as a Smartphone, it works *much* better then the damn Verizon Wireless ones made by samsung. however, there has been a new one released by Verizon Wireless that our company will be demoing for 15 days.

as with any smartphone, the number of ActiveSyncs you do will determine your battery life. i don't do wireless active syncs; i use the supplied USB cable which interfaces with your phone AND charges it:-)

Hey,

I work for a cell phone company. I'm about to get that phone from my boss for free. I made about 25 sales this week. Beat everyone else on the team. He asked me what phone I really want (within reason) and I told him I want the MPx220. If you want info on how to connect via GPRS etc... a good place to look is the forum over at PDAPhoneHome.com . I got a lot of info on there regarding my old Audiovox Thera.

On another note, does anyone know if there is an GPS software out for Smartphone OS 2003? This would be really cool since the phone has blutooth.

Personaly... I love the phone, if the camera were better, it would rock, but... I can live with it. I upgraded from a LG VX10 so.. anything is a upgrade. If your getting one.. wait for the "black dot" and the orage one.... aparently thats the next fixed verison and... I cant find anything that will install on the phone, software wise. Anyone find anything, lemme know.

I have the phone currently and really like it. The battery life is not the greatest however. I also have been trying to get this phone to work with PhoneControl, and I am not having any luck as of yet. I cant seem to assign a com port to the MPX220 so far. Bluetooth, as many know is a reall pain in the A$$ to get configured correctly.

AFAIK, no smartphones (Palm/Windows Mobile) work with Phoco.

Let me know if this works, I have an MPx220 with v1.43 firmware just waiting to play around with.

BTW, what firmware are you using?

Go to Start-Settings-About then look at ROM update Versions

Mine says Manufacturer: 1.430.0.0. V1.43 adds a little something underthe accessories folder called BT SerialPortSetup. It might help you.

My MPX220 has the following info in the "about" screen:

Rom Update Versions:
Operator 0.250.1003.0
Manufacturer: 1.30.0.0
Microsoft: 4.21.14315.0
File System: 4.21.14315.0

I am assuming that your version 1.43 is the Manufacturer... Looks like I need to update...
