    WiFi costs?

If I put a wireless internet thing on my carputer, could I just pull up to a Starbucks parking lot and have internet? Or do you have to pay a fee associated with that?

(Assuming their wifi feed reached their parking lot. But you get the idea I'm going for)

Usually their are wireless hotspots all over without WEP or any type of filtering. I know of a few non-starbucks coffee shops near me that due this. Havent done Wardriving in a while. But if you would like to do more research on the subject search google for 'wardriving'

I mean I don't need to be checking my email while I'm go up I-95. But it'd be nice once in a while to pull into a parking lot with a hotspot and check to see where the closest McDonalds is. (Or something like that)

Sounds you need gps more then wifi. Search the forums tons of answers on hotspots/wifi setup questions.

Buy a wireless modem from a cell phone company with a unlimted data plan. Using other peoples wifi just ****es them off.
