got my cable in today, used it a few minutes ago to browse in the car... pretty cool! I can't wait till i finish the outside of my truck so i can move to the inside! I have a Samsung a670

If I connect my cellphone to my laptop with bluetooth and dial my earthlink ISP and use Earthlink as the ISP and not verizion's network wouldent I in theory be just using my verizon minutes to talk to earthlink and not be subject to verizon data fees?

are you using DUN (1X, dial up) speeds or 3G (EVDO, broadband) speeds Bazzy?

I have no idea, lol. I dialed the #777 thing... said it was connecting at 232kbps or around there. It did tend to drop the connection every few minutes, but it connected very quickly again. Still, i was hoping to connect to an internet radio station in my truck, but it seems the connection wouldn't hold the 128kb/s stream...

Heh. When you're connected, do you see a big "1X" at the top of your phone's screen, or an "EV"?

I know I know, keeping this old post going. Recently I bought an ebay data cable just to see if this works on my laptop and I'll be danged, internet is actually rather quick at times. You have to disable Com port 4 on my setup for some reason. But nonetheless, I am only using anytime minutes when I am on peak which is no big deal because my wifee somehow got us 1400 anytime minutes in addition to free nights and weekend. This is the cord that I used for my LG VX6100 which can be found on ebay:

This cord also recharges the phone while its plugged in, so now I can recharge through my truck's USB ports just like I do with my Nintendo DS. One last thing, not to jump too far off topic, but a good free mobile phone management software that I have found (lets you transfer ringtones to your phone!), is "Bitpim" and I have created my own ringtones using MP3s using "Audacity."

There is the 1X at the top. Well after a year and a half, i finally lost my phone Friday night. I'm looking at buying a Samsung SCH-a930. It's a newer phone, so i'm guessing i'll need to reenable access like mentioned above, correct?

Is this still functioning as of 10/6/06? I have a Verison LG Model number VX3200 . I just want to make sure this is still working before I go buy the cable.

I have a 1x on my phone, and I'd be content with dialup speeds. All I want is to update weather and occasional IM when I'm bored in a parking lot
