Which wireless card to get??

ok im a newbie here so dont be too hard, i have read all the faq's and searched a bit ( looked on here for about 20 hours total this weekend), and i decided to register and get some help with my setup.

i want to get a good wireless card for wardriving, i also would like an external antenna to put on the trunk lid. i would prefer 800.11g but a 800.11b is acceptable

so with yalls reccomended setup how far will it reach?

also when i get it all installed is there a program i should download to help establish a connection? (i already have netstumbler to find one)

im using netgear 802.11b pci connected to a 1/2watt wifi amp going to a omnidirectional 8.5db antenna. I have a reality range of about 1/8th mile.

how tall is your antenna? i drive a 98 vic

also how much did all that run u? u a member of www.crownvic.net?

The senao is a bad *** wifi card. If you can get it, get it. Its the most powerful pcmcia card. Otherwise, for pcmcia, get any orinoco gold card ( lots of different names) If you have to have wifi G, get the linksys wifi G PCI card, I have one, gonna be hooked up to a 1 watt amp tomorrow, but for now it's running with my big dish antenna just great.

I'm using a D-Link DWL-G132 and a DI-624 AP to get 108Mbps. No external antenna in the car but the AP has a directional one pointing at the garage. It gets a very strong signal and still works with everything else in the house even though it's directional.
