I don't see how that app would help if my car was stolen. I would want to know where my car is & I don't see how the info provided in this app helps me find it, if I know that the car changed from this ip to that one, what does that do to help me find my car?

I would like a way for the car to transmit real useable data, that I can easily translate to a physical location, not an IP address, am I missing something here?

....and oh yeh, by the way, shame on you for posting a pyramid scheme here, don't you know that maybe a few benifit, but at the expense of many....pyramids suck

IPs are given based on location except they aren't specific enough to have it help you find your car. Perhaps you could find out which city it is in but not the exact location like GPS.

hey, thats a new twist on the dydns. I use no-ip.com for my server at home.
for those who don't know. If your car is stolen then they drive by a house with an open access point your wifi will connect update dydnc or no-ip.com then could send you an email alert with the ip change. then click here
    http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm

it will show you a map of where they are located.

Would your pc not be password protected or maybe have a switch? Is the crook going to turn the thing on? Or whats to say it wont be snatched out?

Who knows. nice idea but I think it has one too many flaws.

now perhaps if you used the GPS reciever to flag the location every few moments or mins. Then this data would be send over the wireless connection back to you? This way you would intermitantly get a message with GPS location information.

Why not just have you Car PC send your GPS Location to a server somewhere? It would be far more accurate!
