Red face 3G Peezy Mobile Broadband

Has anyone tried the new 3G mobile broadband service. Orange UK offer an wireless unlimited service at around 384k/sec (Broadband is 512k/sec) for £45/month

I know its expensive now but it will come cheaper...

EDIT: I was either stoned or ****ed when I looked at OrangeUK's website cause I swear it said £45 for unlimited. There isn't even a £45 tarriff now. Did they change it after my post?!? I don't know!

EDIT 2: This might have been what I saw and miss-read...... FROM http://www.mobileshop.com/mobile-pho...-data-card.php

I'd like to see where it says it's £45p/m

I've just got myself a SE Z1010 on Orange, and all the data costs I can see are for up to 1GB per month for £88!

Speeds aren't guaranteed or even sustained from what I've seen, but if you're coming to the meet, you can see my phone in action (i'll be providing the internet connection for the meet!)

I use a 3G PCMCIA card all the time...im not sure on the costs (I get to use it for free although im sure £45 sounds about right for one of our tariffs).

3G coverage in the UK isn't best, but when you do get a signal the speeds are pretty good. Another thing with the cards is that if you lose 3G it will automatically revert to GPRS until you get the signal back.

As soon as prices fall it'd be a cool addition to your carputer

I'd be interested in 3G but once it goes to PAYG, don't want to get into the realms of a contract etc .... using O2 GPRS at the moment, slow but does the job.

You can get it PAYG, just buy a sim free one and stick a data-enabled (gprs) PAYG sim in there

provided you had it provisioned for video calls, yes it would (assuming you are in a 3G coverage area obviously). £7.50 per mb Voda PayT GPRS currently though!!

Can anyone confirm that I will be able to get a 3G connection using a 3G datacard and a 2.5G sim card like the 02/Voda payg sims

    didn't i do that above?
You can get Voda 3G phones on PayT, therefore you must be able to use 3G features on PayT. Any PayT sim can be provisioned for 3G (voda anyway), just call cust services or go to your local store and they can do it for you (and its free to do so). Data is £7.50 a mb on PayT (Voda) so it will cost...
