No epoxy there. It's clean as a whistle. Must have been an artifact from the flash.

Dammit. There's also a 'straight' as opposed to the above 'reverse polarity' version of this cable. Which do I want? What's the difference?

Just focus on the text: "Designed for mini-PCI cards", stop worrying and proceed to checkout

"Reverse polarity" refers to the connector, not the cable.

    Hope this helps

I think so. I read it as saying 'if they connect, your fine'.

I bought the cable and aerial. Inside the car (it's a very short cable) it makes no obvious difference to the signal strength or quality .

The connector could be diabled in the firmware.

no you need to move the cap that i've outlined in the pic, the antenna connecter is disconnected because the internal antenna is connected

you might just try bridging the 2 pads

I was wondering how I would switch the two if it was disconnected in the hardware. So you're suggesting I just connect the two metal ends of the rectangular component? Or are you suggesting I connect the bottom end of the rectangular to the blob of what looks like just solder to the upper right?

first I would try just bridging the two pads that i've outlined in this pic, and if that doesnt help then you will have to move the cap (the cap is outlined in the first pic) so that it lines up with the red square
