I have a wmp54g pci card and bought a HGA7S 7.5db gain antenna that just screws right into the pci card.
I am getting good links driving around but was looking to make the antenna external. I have a F150 and don't mind mounting the antenna on the roof.
I searched for mounts but came up with really nothing... The closest I have seen was panel mount sma connectors. I'm not to sure how they would fair in weather thou.
Also maybe a 6 foot extention cable for the mount.
Thanks for any info...

or you can go to the good folks at

and spend quite a bit more for the same thing but get one that is metal and shiny (arguably better build quality but same functionality).

Well I have been searching around and talkin to some people at a local ham radio shop and ordered some pretty cool stuff.
I am going with a roof mounted nmo 3/4 style mount(I love to drill holes in roofs). Then using LMR-400 cable, it's a very low loss cable. About 1/2" thick, the stuff makes rg6 look like primary wire. To a rp-sma male connector that connects to the lynksys card. And the antenna is from hyperlink, HG2403U-NMO.
I think overall its probaly way overkill, but what the heck.
I'll let you all know how it works.

Why not get a trunk lip. You dont have to drill for those and there grounded.Originally Posted by bmo

Anyways It's a done deal LOL... I mounted the nmo yesterday. I don't mind having it mounted like that. Kind of geeky cool I guess.

Just an update on the antenna...
With the setup that I posted before I have great signal and great snr. It works better that I thought it would. Almost trippled the range when I just had my linksys antenna plugged in the card. When using Netstubbler I pick up double the amount of ap's.
So if your looking for a good setup for your moble wireless I would recommend this setup...
