netgear wifi + drive home = crash?

I have an interesting problem. I recently purchased a netgear 802.11g wifi adapter. its one of the models that supports the atheros super g as well. Most of the time it works just fine. however every now and then i will get a blue screen of death related to the driver for the device. once the system is rebooted all is well. the wierd thing is that this always happens when i am driving home from work at close to the same place on the highway every time. I am guessing that this is not just chance and that i am connecting to some sort of access point that is causing my system to crash. I have no problems connecting with any other access point. I use the windows wireless zero config to connect as i had difficulties with the netgear configuration utility. Any ideas on exactly what is causing this problem or more importantly how to fix it?

Can you control settings with the netgear, such as connecting to b-only or g-only (this is more just curiosity)?

Did you totally disable the netgear adapter from trying to connect to anything since your using zero-config? I had similar issues with other adapters; if zero config and the WLAN card utility were working at that same time it would get confused and crash in particular situations. I personally try to use anything other than windows to manage my connections, I usually have more control, usually.

Do you have the latest drivers for your WLAN device?

Does it have a atheros chip set or does it just "support" the super-g.

through the netgear software I can tell the adapter to connect to only b, b and g, or b and g and super g.
i dont use the netgear utility because I had a lot of trouble handling the wep encryption for my home network. Wireless zero does it with no problems. It wil automatically detect new networks on its own and automatically connect to ones that i set as preferred networks. Usually i would use the software that came with the card, but in this situation it seemed to work so well with the windows one. I dont know if it has an atheros chipset or not. I will try to completely disable the netgear software and see if it helps.

haha, from reading the thread title, I thought you were using the 'net and crashed your car. Good thing that wasn't the case. Anyway, good luck figuring out your problem.
