    T-Mobile Sidekick data network?

I'm not all that interested in having wireless data service in my car, but it could be handy at times. I already have a T-Mobile Sidekick with unlimited GPRS data service. It's not blazing fast, but fast enough. The problem is that there's no way to connect this phone to a PC and use it for data on the computer. At least, last time I checked there wasn't.

What I was wondering is, would it be possible for me to clone my SIM card and buy a generic GPRS phone or something and use that to give my carputer a data feed without opening another service account? It seems like this would work in theory. My one concern would be if the cellular network would get freaked out seeing the same SIM ID on the network at the same time. I recall that this was a problem, in a sense, back in the old AMPS days - if you cloned the NAM of your phone and both handsets were powered up at the same time, the network would get confused about which one to contact when someone dialed in.

    Thoughts?

I talked to a friend who is familiar with the cellular network - he said it would not be possible for two cloned SIM cards to join the network at the same time. I don't really feel like having to turn my phone on and off every time I get in and out of the car.

If anyone has figured out how to use the data network on the phone by just connecting it to a PC, that might be the way to go.

You can do it but you'll get kick off for doing it.

There's the data cable, all you need now is software!

The phone actually comes with that cable, so I already have it. But yeah... software...

Also it's just a standard USB-mini to USB cable; not worth $10.45 plus shipping!

cant you use it the same way you use most mobiles with a datacable and gprs? connect it, setup a new modem with the drivers its supplies, then you have to set it to dial a realy odd number for gprs, cant remember it buy a google search should find it.

"The drivers it supplies" assumes that the phone supplies drivers - it doesn't as far as I know. There's nothing on the Danger site about them, and no CD included.
