This is definitely one of my first thoughts when I came about this subject, I found out about the Junxion Box but I think is a bit pricey.
I don't see why u can't do it on an Airport , theoretically at least,.......
    That'd be hot though!!
I'm still trying to figure out how we''re gonna improve on this crappy VZ software!

    Hello,

The StompBox is a very cool build it yourself project. We built one and took it on vacation last week. It gave us the following:

    - Hotspot in car, so laptops in car, could surf/email
    - We built an integration with Google Maps & GPS, so people could actually see our real-time position on Google Maps
    - We added a Web cam looking out the front window which would take a picture every 5 minutes and then upload to a FTP server.

    More information and links at:

    http://www.evdoforums.com/about578.html

The web site may not work any more, until we take our next vacation

The settings for a Windows Dial-Up Network Connection should be the following for Verizon:

    Number: #777
    User: [email protected]
    Password: vzw

If the V620 shows up in Device Manager as a modem, you should be able to create a DUN connection.

I have a V620 coming to me through work soon, so I'll be testing this out as well...

Also, did you know that the V620 has two external antenna connectors?

One is on the side, the other on the bottom...

I'll be looking into external antennas for my WRX when I get my V620...

Cool! I'll try those settings in a 'lil while.
The antenna, Yes. I've seen it posted on EVDO forums and it sounds interesting, to be honest, coverage in NY is pretty good and I have yet felt that I MUST get it. hehe.
The one advantage would be if it can increase the "Broadband" coverage, as opposed to it reverting to "National" access.
I also picture it not fitting in well in my vehicle, I think the cable is quite short and it can't go outside; therefore I think inside the vehicle would be cumbersome.

Actually, I've mostly seen pigtail adapters (~20") that you plug into the V620, and then you plug the antenna into the adapter.

The cords on the antennas themselves are usually a good 6+ feet long, and are designed for external mounting, either magnetic or permanent.

I have a few good examples, if you'd like..

I bought a pigtail & then a cable & a roof mount antenna...the drill a hole kind.... haven't gotten it in yet... to many projects at the moment I'll dig them out & show you... a roof mount is the way to go... the one I got was claimed to be a 5db gain... I think it was a wilson.....

as far as dialup through windows with evdo I think I did that in the past, but I think i remember isdsues with venturi..... venturi worked better with the verizon control panel from what I remembered & venturi makes a big difference with speed from what I've seen.... I got to play with this again... my pc is down for the last week with mods going on... I'll have it back up for the meet....

Wilson Antennas are nice - www.wilsonelectronics.com, I think.

Was it one of those white stub antennas, a few inches tall? Or a longer metal spring antenna?
