How can I do this?
I have a motorola v551 with Cingular GPRS and a Data cable.
How do I set up my carpc to automatically connect to GPRS (in the background) whenever the computer is turned on?
I know that I can configure IE to connect automatically when a connection is requested, but I'd rather not wait for it to initialize when I need access!
Any ideas?
Can a batch file be set up in the start menu, is there a better way?
Thanks!

Why not use the auto connect feature of windows and then just load add a link to mp3car.com or google into your startup folder. I would suggest google as it would require very little bandwidth to load. This would probably be the quickest solution, although you could automate it more directly via programs like girder or automate. I'm sure there may be other possibilities but those are the ones that come to mind right now.
One problem is, I'm not sure about GPRS, but with 1X or EVDO (CDMA data connections), the phone disconnects automatically anyway when there is no usage. It doesn't "fully" disconnect but goes into "dormant mode" so unless you have a keep alive method, you will be connecting when needed regardless. Like I said I don't know if this is true for GPRS, but it's something to look into and consider. My phone literally connects in a second or too so I don't bother with loading up a connection until I need it. Also until EVDO came out, 1X did not allow calls through in dormant mode, but EVDO does. I would not want to lose all capability to receive calls while in the car as it somewhat defeats the purpose of a cell phone in the first place. Just food for thought, hope all works out for you.

I like to have such autoconnect thing. But I'm using hibernate and when return from hibernation, the internet connection is lost. I have to refresh the page and it will autoconnect in the background.
I actually want to autoconnect whenever there is no connection.
