    Audiovox Cl-100

I just scored a CL-100 (car link) unit on ebay and was looking to add to my car's factory (alarm, door lock/unlock, trunk open, panic button) optons. I see Audiovox makes a cl-100 compatible unit for factory alarms (Audiovox ASPTUGM) and was thinking of getting it. The only missing piece is remote starting which I do not have with the factory system. My vehicle is a manual transmission and I have seen a few starters designed for manual transmissions....does anyone know if there are any compatible with the CL-100??? I assume the ASPTUGM will not work with one if I cannot find a Audiovox or Prestige.

Also, for current CL-100 owners...is it possible to activate the CL-100 without a dealer involved? I will most likely need to have the remote starter installed by a dealer, but may start with the ASPTUGM 1st as it is pertty inexpensive and possibly expandable.

I bought mine off of eBay and hooked it up to my CodeAlarm CA625b and it works great. I can get a signal in my companies parking garage if I park on the outer edge. It takes about 40-70 secs after the call for the command to reach the car. This will be great this summer and next winter.

Did you guys have to buy some "interface" box to make it work with a non Audiovox alarm? the guy I bought off ebay is trying to sell me another interface box for $40 that I have to use to make it work with another alarm.

    Thanks

    cell phone remote start questions.

I recently read a thread about the audiovox cl100 module. I love the idea but I have a few questions. 1. does the system work with ALL brands of existing remote starters? I read it might. 2. I read that satronics website was down and nobody answers or returns emails or calls. How do I activate the service if I cant get thru. I read something about a fax and people selling guarantees on ebay. whats all that about? 3. how much is the service and how is the coverage? lastly are the easy to insall?

    appreciate answers thanks.

    I'd wait a while.
I'm still trying to get these in quantity.
The company changed (or is in the process) of changing hands, and the cl100 is no longer produced. They (whoever that is) will be coming out with another unit.
If I ever get somewhere with this, I'll let you know.

Since most of you already have a carpc in your car, you could always use it to start your car. AIVMS allows you to call into your internet connected carpc and control a Phidgets 0/0/4 USB relay module.

The only other hardware required is a WiFi router that is continuously powered. You use WakeOnLan to boot your carpc, and then call into the AIVMS system to start the car. The power draw for most WiFi routers is comparable to any car alarm.
You can bridge the router to your home network, leave it connected to an open WiFi hotspot, or use an EV-DO enabled Wifi router such as the WRT54G3G-ST.

AIVMS touch tone (DTMF) remote control can be accessed using a normal phone, a cell phone, or with Skype VOIP client software loaded on any PC or Pocket PC.

Access from a normal phone or cell phone requires that you add SkypeIN to the AIVMS systems Skype account: Your car will then have its very own phone number.

Here is an mp3 recording I made of a call into an AIVMS system from my home POTS line cordless phone. There is a bit too much silence at the begining (sorry), but it is essentially an audio recording of an actual call into my vehicle to enabled relay one, which is attached to the vehicles power windows. Relay one is set to operate as a timed (momentary) switch, and functions to roll all windows up or down. Nice if I forget to roll them up and it happens to start raining. It could just as easily control the vehicles starting system through activation of a cheap remote start module.

No man. I'm getting the freaking run around. One guy says he'll mail me more info...I get nothing. I call back, he then refers me to someone else, who also will send me info...I get nothing again. Like these people don't want to sell them!!!
I give up. Last info I got is that they where supposed to have a "next version" soon.
I'd wait/search for that if I where you.
