    Hey There

Twice I have typed up a nice explanation of my setup and when I submit it, I get a message saying my reply must be viewed my a moderator before getting posted but then never gets posted!! WTF???

I don't have the CL100. I thought the site looked a little hoaky IMHO. What I do have is a kit that I purchased and soldered together. I have a Viper remote start that I had installed. When I had it installed, I asked the installer to program 2 wires for me. One input wire that would trigger the start sequence and one output wire that would trigger once the car is running. I then wired my SMS Controller to these 2 wires and now I can text message my car to start from anywhere and it will text me back when it is started.

I did have to purchase a cell phone to communicate with my SMS controller. It works great though could be used for a wide variety of applications for home or car.

@DK888: I'm extremely interested in how you did that.

What is an MFC? Don't mind me if I sound newbieish, I am. I was thinking of wiring directly into my carputer and using an i455 boost mobile phone for only internet... Now you have my creative juices going, and I want to know how you're able to disable certain parts of your car/remote start it with said boost mobile phone.

PM me with more info, provide a link to a forum topic you made, or just explain here and link the stuff you used please? :-D

The unit I have must be "logged" into. Once logged in unit will only respond to commands via text message that originate from my cell phone. Unit is also password protected if my cell isn't currently logged in.

Can anyone explain to me how they programmed their phones for their SMS controllers? Do you have to use Nokia phones? Because right now I have a motorola Krazr and it is through alltel (non GSM) would this work with a SMS controller + car starter to start my car from anywher through cell phone?

You can't use any type of phone for the JayCar SMS Controller. It has to be one of the 4 Nokia phones listed in the article for this particular SMS Controller. You can of course use any type of phone to text message the Nokia that communicates with the SMS Controller. Hope this answers your question.

    Hi Everyone!
I was just browsing and stumbled across this subject. I have also purchased the JayCar Electronics SMS Controller for use with my CarPC. I originally bought it to turn on the PC while near my WiFi network such as outside the house or in the garage to update music etc. I have thought of using it to start the car which would only require an extra relay which costs approx 5 from JayCar. Does anyone have an idea how to make sure the car isn't in gear before it was to start in case the other half decides to "forget" to take the car out of gear when parking up?
Any help would be much appreciated.
