Does anyone have the A900 tethered w/BT

Just wondering is the BT problem with the A900 has any affect with interconnection as a modem.

Looking into getting it and using this feature specifically.

Is anyone actually using it specificly for this purpose and can confirm it works with no issue?

Cant seem to find any specific answer over at HF

    Thanks

using the cable is so much more efficient and reliable, why bother. Problem is cable doesn't charge phone like my PPC6600 cable does.

Bluetooth internet is definately slower and increasingly more unreliable.

I have looked for any reference to BT not being as fast as a USB cable, but cant find any reason why the speed would be a factor? Can you please lead me to a thread or reason why you say this?

A search said that BT will do “Bluetooth bandwidth: 1 mbps. It gets boosted to 3 in future products. “ http://www.halfbakery.com/idea/Bluet...Wi-Fi_20Bridge

Why would this limit be a bottleneck for dialup speeds?

It does look like the BT can be a hassle to get set up right for certain applications though.
Reason for part of the question, does anyone successfully have the A900 connected with BT.

I just know I would rather keep the phone in my pocket, and it interconnect when needed. Personal preference. And if I ever felt I used it enough to justify charging it incar I would make a dock/charger station.

This site seems to answer most my question. Still would like to know why the BT would be slower?

Yes, apparently this guy had it tether w/BT and working. No speed quoted though.

I use the 900 with BT for internet.

However, I recently had to do a little hack on the phone to get it work, I had to enable Moden NAI. Sprint fineally caught on and started blocking us unless we had the 'Phone as Modem' plan. So we found that turning off NAI still get us on. At this point, nobody knows if turning off the NAI is going to get us charged or not, so we will all find out at the end of the month.

The sprint PAM plan is pretty fair though,$40 gets ya unlimited data usage as a modem. Bluetooth is not a bottleneck for the speed.

Thanks NickF, so it will definitely work without issue. The BT headset compatibility has no effect on the tethering ability then I guess?

Do you have a link to the thread you are speaking of?

I also use the A900 with no probs. I have the "Phone As Modem" $39 plan. I've paired it up with my CarPC, and on a good day get about a 216k to 230k connection. It varies. I think the slowest I've seen out of it is 108k, but still faster than dialup. I believe the use something kind of like netzero's internet accelerator, where they compress the images on the server side so it seems to go faster than it really is connected at. I can download MP3s off my home pc at about 180k. But if I go to www.bandwidthplace.com and do a speed test, since it's image based, I get a reading of 600k!

What's NAI? I'm only on like page 6 of my A900 manual.
