Not MAC, all bluetooth devices have their own bluetooth identification code. BlueProximity already does this, I have my computer set to lock the screen when my phone is not within reach and unlock when it is.

Are there any bugs with this for those who installed it?
I recently picked up a Scytek Power Blue 1000 and am in the process of testing it.
This module is basically a standalone bluetooth keyless entry controller with a (-) when armed output.
It took me 9-10 tries to get my cell phone to mate with it, but once I finally got it it seems to be very stable on my test bench. It was right around $100 and is widely available through various online retailers.
oh sweet! I will probably get one in next month. Can you let me know how everything goes?
Are there any other places to obtain these except ebay?
Got links?

When searching ebay or anything else try both Scytek Blue 1000 and Precision Blue 1000

Anyways more detail?
I have planned to implement a Bluetooth based Keyless Entry System for automobile as my final year project. The system will comprise a portable remote controlling unit which is a Bluetooth enabled cell phone and a vehicle mounted base unit supporting two way communications. The cell phone will issue command to the base unit which in turn responds by controlling the keyless entry function. In order to develop the application software at the mobile end, the Java API (Application programming interface) for Bluetooth will be used.
