    Wireless Newbie..

If ive got an incar pc, thats got a wireless card etc, will i only get a connection every now and again? im assuming that driving around etc, the signal will be lost, and would therefore be useless? Is there any ways to improve this etc?

Thanks, and apologies for the newb Questions

Have the PC connect to the internet through your cellphone. You can be online wherever you have cell reception.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

wouldnt that work out expensive, or, what if there needed to be access to the net 24/7?

depends on your cell provider and how you go about connecting to the internet.

    e.g.:

a "real" data plan will probably cost ~$80/month.

however, with Cingular (and most likely all others - i just know Cingular from personal experience), you can tether your pc to the phone, and use the $20/month unlimited Media.net plan to connect to the net. It is intended for WAP browsing and will be slower than if you had a real data plan, but you're also saving $60/month.

Officially tethering is not supported, and frowned upon.. if you experience problems, don't call your provider and ask them why it's not working - after all, they want to sell you the $80/month data plan.

There are a couple of threads about this stuff.

Find a sprint employee (that is your friend) and hook service up through www.sprint.com/sero . Those plans have unlimited data. Figure out how to tether your phone to your carpc and you will have unlimited internet + a nice cell plan (weekends, mobile to mobile, roaming, ect) for $30 a month. Make sure you buy a EVDO (broadband) phone; you'll download at about 100 K (800 kilobits) a second.

if you do the sprint thing make sure your phone doesnt report if you are tethering your modem to a computer. you can get an old rl4900 or rl 4920 on ebay for about 20 bucks, they dlnt report but they dont have broadband service either. just keep reading reviews and tricks for various phones before you buy one.
