10uf won't be long enough of a button press, I was getting hit & miss results with even a 47uf, which is why I went with the 68uf. I have a wide range of caps & resistors & I have narrowed it down to where I'm at now, up or down doesn't make it better from my findings, although I'll admit I was kinda rushing & I didn't spend all day playing with it either...

I'll definitely have to spend some time playing with it. Though the cap itself isn't that important, it's the RC.

I was thinking backwards on the last numbers. Trying 300K with a 10uf gives a similar charge time, but the discharge rate is much faster. (Assuming the sim is accurate ;) )

I got the torx bits, but I can only see 4 screws on the phone. (2 top, 2 bottom), Feels like there is something mid way still holding it together. Anyone know if there are more someplace?

I tried checking out the pics at the beginning of the thread but getting a 404 on the relevant ones.

it's a bit of a pain in the ***, after all the screws are out, the 2 halves are still snaped togeather, there are 2 slots a bit more than half way down from the top, there are locks there that need to be pryed, a small slot driver inserted just right & you may not make any marks, be careful cause the ribbon cables are short, if it snaps apart & spreads hard you could rip one.

actually it's about 2/3rds down from the top, you can kinda see them in my first picture, there like hooks kinda

That did the trick. I marred it a little but don't care. My suggestion for others is don't use a screwdriver two tiny either.

Once I got it apart, I cut off those tabs ;)

How did you get the front off all the way? Did you remove the ribbon cable?

yeah, they get pulled straight out, use a tiny driver undernieth them & push stright up away from the board, putting them back in is just lining them up & then pushing straight in to the board, no funky locks or anything, thaty little foam pad on the end is what holds it in when assembled

if you want to take the lcd ribbon out it's the same, to dissasemble the lid you have to remove the insert on the big lcd side, it's glued in but pops out pretty easy...

these ribbon cable plugs have a limited amount of times you can unplug & replug them, I mean a few times or so is ok, but there not rated for continuious insert & removal, if you inserted them like 20 times they can start to deteriorate, just fyi

no man, these really are a piece of cake, no chance of having a problem, more cables get damaged by NOT unpluging them, they come straight up off the board like the way a processor plugs in,it much safer to unplug them than pulling on them the wrong way, trust me:)

I've got the wires soldered. A bit tricky for these shaky hands, especially since I used 30ga Kynar wire. For the moment, just left the leads hanging out of the phone and put it back together so I can start playing with cap values.
