That posts refers to WIDEN enabled, not iden. Since WIDEN was shut off, I didn't think it was relevant. I'll check it out though.

Oops - looks like you're right about that one! It may still be worth checking out since WIDEN is a variation of iDEN. The same activation may be required. Not sure.

Ending up going with the AT&T MediaNet prepaid method for $19.99. Fast enough for web-browsing with images and streaming audio, it's not terribly expensive and still no contract.

baud transmission :921.600 kbits/s
i i don't have the usb cable but i use my
bluetooth connection of my laptop and the i580

it enable modem over bluetooth in the the i580
with my dial up connection in windows set up with phone n:225

I have read pretty much this entire thread, and it's a lot of posts! I'm sure the answers might be in these 32 pages but I didn't see it.

So I figured I'd ask a few questions to bring myself, and other people interested in this cheap internet method, up to speed.

(1) What is the best phone to use for internet currently (the maximise speed)?
(2) What is the best phone to use for internet and GPS currently (this is listed incase needing GPS would result in a different phone choice)?
(3) Since WiDEN is no longer available, what kind of speeds should we really expect?
(4) With the advent of 3G and now even 4G connections, is there any chance that Boost Mobile's internet speeds will get a "boost" (pun intended) to higher speeds?

2600 Magazine just did an article on boost phones. I'll read through it and see if the info in there still matches what is here. Give me a day or two and I'll get back to you.
