    Cell phone

I looked through the FAQ and didnt see anything on it but how do you connect your phone to the computer and what does it allow you to do anyway? I don't understand the purpose of being able to do it.

Well, there are 3 physical ways to connect your phone to your computer.

    1. USB Data Cable
    2. Bluetooth
    3. IR

There are several reasons to connect your phone to your computer.

    1. Upload ringtones/games/apps/wallpaper/etc... to the phone so you don't have to pay $1.00+/item from your provider
    2. To use your phone as a modem. Say your on the road, and want to check your email, if your phone has a data plan, you can connect it to a laptop/desktop/carpc and use the internet on it
    3. People on this site connect their phones to their pcs for the simple reason of having easy to read info about who's calling/send text while driving/chat using handsfree over car spearkers/etc...

I hope this answers your question.

If you have more detailed questions, I'd be more than happy to help you out over IM. For my info, just go to my profile...

    Peace,

    Rafster

Ok I'm back, so I finally got things moving abit with the project. And I'm interested in this whole phone integration thing. So here's my questions

1.So basically I don't need my phone in the car at all? I can pick up/hang up from the screen, it will play the call over the car speakers(what if its private and ppl there and i dont want it to?) But I'm assuming i'd still need some kind of mic to talk back of course.

2.How does one go about doing this. I have a fairly old phone...a...ummm....verizon LG vx4500 i believe...its old will it still work?

    I'm using RoadRunner btw.

    Thank you!!

You are going to need your phone in the car... How else will you be able to have it connected to the computer....?

As far as your phone is concerned... I'm pretty sure the major cell phone integration software availbale on this forum, Phoco, does not work with most CDMA (Verizon/Sprint) phones... I might be wrong, but you might want to do some research on that...

    Hope this helps...
