Here's the error: (and I got when dialing msn and my work phone#)
Error 678: The remote computer did not respond. For further assistance...
I double checked my dialing rules and ran a diagnostic on the modem through device manager.
It comes back with successes and mentions something about wap.voicestream.com.
It also lists GPRS as a supported interface along with irda, bt, etc.
I just signed up for the free netzero, so we'll see if that fixes it.
for some reason it's trying to use your cellphone as cable modem not a dial-up modem,it's trying to use the internet in your phone, not making a call, you might want to check your settingswap.voicestream.com
this would be normal because when you dial yoour work number does not answer with a dataline (all the noise dialup makes), did your phone even ring?Error 678: The remote computer did not respond
i'm not at work, i'm in training across the street. i was outside in the parking lot and figured i would dial my desk, b/c it would ring and then goto voicemail.
search begins for sony drivers....
funny thing... this is from the free t-mobile thread

use bluetooth w/ Widcomm drivers
when the phone is recognized by computer, it will setup any possible features.
Sony ericssons work great ( T610,T616,&637 ) ..
Mines a T610 and I just have it dial the phone ( *99***3# ) which connects to the internet.
I set " Internet Preferences " on the computer ( both IE & Firefox linked ) to use a proxy server with IP & Port 8080
simple, no other software needed
thanks again for all of your help.
laptop from time to time.
When you try to dial the ISP, with your PC, does the phone light up and show it's making a call?
My laptop is with my wife 200 or so miles from here right now, so I'm going from memory on this... Make sure the connection is set as an analog link and not GPRS. Look around the T610 modem properties and such..
"It's my belief that my big balls should be held every night"
OK, this is both promising and painful.
the phone does dial and goes to connecting...then it just hangs up.
i'll check the properties. don't remember seeing a choice for analog.
when you say t610 modem properties, were you hardwired w/ data cable or were you bluetooth?
i have a Tmobile MDA,i know i can hook the phone to the pc,but how do i get the pc to read my phone as a modem and connect? is there a driver for it?
I've made some progress. Still no netzero connection though...
I downloaded the connection suite from sonyericsson.com. i didn't feel like installing outlook, so it only installed the dialup wizard.
when i launched the dialup wizard it couldn't find my phone. i kept trying and trying and eventually got it to find the phone. for some reason it did not recognize my bluetooth modem (widcomm 126.96.36.1990) as installed. It had me install a "sony t610 bluetooth modem" driver. i got to set the analog modem and added the phone, sim etc. etc.
i made the mistake of not knowing my netzero access number beforehand and had to cancel out of the process. It put a netzero dialup shortcut on my desktop with no number in it....big mistake.
however when i tried to dial my netzero access , after i got my access numbers, it wouldn't connect. it would turn the bt icon green in the system tray, but the phone wouldn't dial.
the only setting that makes the phone dial is bluetooth modem. however, that uses gprs so i can't connect to netzero.
i tried to go back into the sony dialup wizard but now it won't find my phone. i enabled the correct com port (sony says use the same one that bt serial is connected to), and the bt icon goes green...then white...green then white, but no wizard connection is made.
that part is pretty frustrating since i saw it work once. i tried deleting my profile out of the dialup wizard...no luck. I tried uninstalling the connection suite...no luck. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling my widcomm drivers...no luck
did you restart with the working drivers? because my nokia is tha same way, i start windows and plug in my phione and it works fine but if i unplug the cable windows makes the sound of the device unplugged but the software never recorgnizes the phone was removed, i tried killing the program, disabling and enabling the usb ports, reinstalling drivers, the only thing that works is to restart windows, so you might want to try the drivers and settings that worked and restart your pc and see if it works
i'm not understanding what you said. did i restart the pc after i installed the t610 drivers? yes. a couple of times. but i'm not sure what my connections were when it worked that one time.
but i'll try it again. so here's what i'll try tonight...
1. uninstall widcomm bt drivers
2. uninstall SE connection suite
3. uninstall SE t610 BT modem drivers
4. install widcomm drivers
5. verify drivers work (i have phoco to test with)
6. install SE connection suite
7. try and connect to dialup wizard
7a. If wizard works it will prompt me to install t610 modem drivers (don't know why it doesn't like widcomm bt modem??)
7b. If wizard doesn't pick up my phone, I can still install t610 bt modem drivers and try to connect.
The only thing is, I'm stumped as to what to try if I can't get the sony dialup wizard to recognize my phone. its the only thing i've found so far that lets me choose to dial as analog modem. There's nothing in the widcomm bt modem properties that lets me change this.
ZtH01 was able to successfully connect with my phone. How did he change to analog?
