Can anyone recommend a good external antenna/aerial for permanent use? (I.e. permanently on the car). Omni-directional.

And you should be more specific about your antenna needs, namely what type of signal you want to pick up. Radio? GPS? WiFi? GPRS/EVDO?
This is a very good omni for a permanent mount.

It's installed by default on every version of Windows.
I don't think that antenna was meant for installation on a car...
