Thread: 2007 Mustang Install

The stock subs on the 2007 Mustang only require 5v to turn on. The 12v from the Opus was making them pop.

After I installed the regulator the pop was gone.

I've almost got the noise from the doors subs figured out. It has to do with the placement of the RCA connectors. I can move them back toward the rear of the car and seems to work.

Still no idea on the sleep with the Opus 120. I removed the low power jumper, but that just shut down the computer about a minute after it went to sleep.

One of my first problems I ran into with putting the PC into sleep mode was I actually needed a BIOS update to fix. I had to email the manufactured to get the update, but it was worth it. I works like a charm now.

You can search isohunt.com for a Tiny XP torrent. Using Google should produce a few places to download as well.

I've had some issues (Tiny XP Beast) so test everything thoroughly while the system is still out of the car on the bench.

The 2007 Mustang rear deck speakers are flush with the deck. This is different than the 05/06 because the speakers have grills and are easier to swap.

To swap the speakers in the 07 you will need to do the following:

• Put the rear seats down.
• Pull up both door sills (they just pop out)
• Pull up the molding that is below the quarter windows (requires some effort)
• Use a panel puller to remove the plastic fasteners that hold the rear deck carpet down.

Be careful not to scratch the upper area around the quarter windows when removing the lower panels. You might want to tape those areas.

The rear deck holds 6x8 stock speakers that are basically mids with no highs. I installed two Alpine 6x9s so I had to do some drilling. I also installed my amp upside down between the two speakers using rubber gromets on the feet for insulation. I called Alpine and they said upside down was ok.

This is the rear of the car during the install. I used cardboard templates to mark the holes I wanted to drill. I used an old cover to place above the holes when I drilled them so I would not hit the window.

I modified the center glove box to hold connections for USB, network and a 3.5" bay device for memory cards. As you can see I didn't spend a lot of time finishing off the fabrication.

I was doing some rewiring and decided to add a switch to disable the PC. Still need to hide those RCA connectors.

While I still have an issue with sleeping the PC. I'd say that my install has come to an end. I'll post any issues and future modifications here. I'm also going to create a new post in the finished projects page.
