    2006 Mazda 3 Worklog

Well I can't really call it a worklog yet since I haven't done any work yet. So far bought a gps dongle (br-355 and iGuidance 4.0). I am tryin to decide on what to buy and figured I could use some pace/motivation. It's been over a month since I am readin and dreamin. I got the basics down but need to learn the details as I buy each component. Any help/suggestions welcome since this is my first carputer. I am pretty savvy with computers though.

    Thoughts:
    opus or carnetix psu
1.5 or 2.0 Ghz Via (epia or jetway?)
    wifi and bluetooth adapters
    case
    slim dvd drive
    aux mod
    8" or 7" touchscreen
    handsfree phone software
    windows xp
    -----------------------------
    mic
    webcam
    card reader
    OBDII hardware & software

    got gps
already got ram and will probably use a harddisk at hand till I buy a laptop hdd

It is a 2008 worklog now got in on the 0% financing deal. I know it's been a while but I haven't givin up. Bought the mobo and the psu weeks ago. I've started installin software but took a break until I get a monitor. Being a slacker, I still need to buy a monitor. I did buy (for cheap) a bluetooth adapter and a stowaway keyboard which should be very useful. This should be productive weekend.

Finally got a touchscreen. I bought a car2pc couple of weeks ago and tested in my car. It was great to hear my carputer through my speakers. I plan to hook up my monitor to the m2-atx and throw it in my car this weekend if I am around. It is not gonna be a factory lookin install at all but it will be a decent version 1.

By the way, my camera was stolen month or two ago. Hopefully I'll remember to buy one and be helpful a little.

Thanks. Got a new camera but might return it. I didnt like the distant shots.

Givin up is not an option. Just slackin a little. Gonna buy cables, fuses, and plywood hopefully before the end of the month and start installin.

Hooked up the monitor to the psu

I am sure it is very easy to figure out for everybody but I'll go over it anyway. I used the car charger plug to connect the monitor to the m2-atx. Unscrewed the screw and the loop, opened it up and cut the wires. Didnt check but luckily no surprises; red wire is (+) and the black is the ground. I'll probably use the light, too. Insert the red for a yellow (12V) and black for black on the molex and done. Monitor turns on with the mazdaputer.

From a fellow Mazda 3 owner, where and how are you planning on mounting your screen? I originally wanted a 10 inch screen but there was no way it was going to fit in the middle of the dash where I wanted it. I opted for a 8 inch instead...

I have a black one, too. I wanted to keep the console and the factory stereo. I was thinking in the middle of the dash, on top of the air ducts. This is my first and no idea about fabrication so I am very hesitant. 10 inch would fit there but wouldn't look good. I'll just have a temp setup for the screen for now. Proabably get an 8 inch later.

You done with yours? Seems like you were almost done.
