My first attempt building a Carputer, the challenge is all the electric parts, computer setup is no problem since i fix servers for a living ^^
Anyway, got half of the parts this morning. below is the hardware expected
CPU: Pentium M 1.8Ghz S479 (Idle is 31c and load 35c with stock fan and 16c and 25c with bigger fan, very impressive considering the power and the heatsink size, it can play 1080p HD video very smoothly too)
Motherboard: VB-I915M Pentium-M Mini-ITX Motherboard
Memory: 1 Gb DDR2 (a bit too much for hibernating, but since ill use S3 standby only, all good ^^ )
Power Supply: M2-ATX 160Ws
Sound Card: Built-in for now, realtek ALC655 6-channel
AMP: no need for now, i will be using the car deck relocated in the glove box
Hard drive: 1x 120Gb for OS and APP + 1x 320 Gb SATA2 for Music + Movie
Front end: Road Runner + DigitalFX skin + Iguidance 4.0
LCD: Xenarc 705TSV
LCD Bezel: Custom mounted on the stock radio cage (like every MKIV carputer)
here is how i will mount everything
Any comment, please share

nice job so far... although i would recommend putting the computer were it can be accessible more.. i had mine first behind the screen, and had overheating issues when i used the heater in the winter. there is not much air movement back there. i moved mine to the trunk, and only had problems on the 110 degree days.
what do you plan on doing for the screen? the snap in one from mp3 car? or a home made one?
Thats exactly how I am mounting the motherboard for a customer of mine in his MK4 golf
Pentium 4m 1.5GHz|MB896|Roadie Extreme|XM-Direct|Rikaline 6010|T-View 7"|Streetdeck|160gb Western Digital|1Gb DDR2-533 Ram
overheating should not be a problem since the beast is running a pentium M, 35c during HD movie playback, ill be ok :-)
the screen will be custom mounted in the dash, i wont open the screen because wants to keep the warranty but ill try to make it fit nicely using some epoxy putty
Do not use that pink foam it is conductive, no matter what you heard. Do a search on it, hopefully you haven't run it on there.
No problem man.
Some Progress, i'm glad the motherboard is still alive after so many dashboard test fitting
