HVAC is relocated using the Orbital kit. Nothing to fab there...

Blacklancer, we meet again. Anyways, so how much have you spent so far to make the single DIN to a double? I've been debating whether or not to use a single DIN flip out or try to make my single din to a double din. I've already got the radio relocation kit and computer ready, I'm just trying to make a decision about a touchscreen monitor.
Well the Orbital kit was 300. Which of course gets me the HVAC relocation and the double din. This piece was about 115, but not necessary...I just did it for looks because I don't like the color of the Orbital.
Keep in mind that I have the computer in the dash behind the monitor. If yours is separate there may be no reason to go double din. I personally don't like flipouts but on the Evo it wouldn't block anything except for some air vents, maybe.

I'm using an old laptop that I'm going to put under my seat. I was thinking about double din because I've read that a lot of the single din flip outs either have a lot of problems or break easily.
They do in fact have a higher failure rate because there is a lot of moving parts and a motor. But the double din option is expensive for the evo and a lot of work.

Also the Orbital kit is supposedly backordered too. I was reading at the evolutionm forums that they are trying to raise money for a new manufacturing process and a lot of people put money down on the Orbital V2 kit but there isn't too much updated news about it. I think I'll stick with the single DIN for now. I could probably buy 2 single DIN screens for the price of a double DIN and the orbital kit. For the HVAC relocation, does the orbital kit use the dials that we already have or do we have to get the dials from somewhere else. I remember reading the evolutionm forums and a lot of people were buying used galant and eclipse HVACs to do the relocation.
The existing HVAC controls are used with the Orbital kit. The people using the Galant controls didn't use the Orbital, unless I missed that one.
The Orbital kit is OK quality but is really the only option to relocate HVAC without fabbing the lower portion yourself.
