Well that's a 3rd Gen altima and I've seen pictures only of it.
Here is a pic of the car in question.

I would agree that the Mac navigation is still sucky. But things like VMWare Fusion and Parallels can help get past that :-) I love my Mac OS X, but sometimes you just have to run Windows.
The current nav screen is a perfect place for a screen. I kind of wonder if the nav screen is regular RGB....then you could hook BOTH to a carcomputer monitor and just take out the existing one in the nav unit to leave its buttons there. Based on its size, it should be a 7" touchscreen.
I'm KamikazeH20mln, btw on NissanClub.com :-)

Yeah I'm still trying to find out how to tap into the Nav screen on the car with no luck still. That screen is a real pain in the butt for everything. Also, I'm still trying to find the headliner material to cover my monitor housing with still no luck so what I may do is just cover it with Black Leather because I really don't like it painted right now.
Hi
the mod for that car is $450. This will give you 2 video inputs 1 for dvd and 1 for backup camera. Feel free to call me at 718-763-7367.
Thanks Dominic

Also there have been reports that nissan will bring us our official ipod adapter for the nav system in the 07-08s in June - July. Time will tell. God knows we have been asking for it long enough.
2007 Altima Hybrid,
I have my iPhone integrated into my Nav system. I pulled out the ash tray console. Unscrewed the auxiliary mini plug. Plugged a splitter into it. One side went into an iPhone dock. The other side was plugged into a cable that on one end was a mini pin to the dock and the other was bare wire. I soldered that end to a mini plug from Radio Shack. Then screwed that back to the hole from the original auxiliary plug. I then connected a cable that had a 30pin iPod plug to the dock. The other end was bare red and black. I connected them to the back of the cig lighter. I cut the ash tray so the dock would fit. Now I dock my iPhone, play my iTunes. When the phone rings, it puts the song on hold and the iPhone call comes threw the Bluetooth of the Nav system. The phone keeps charging!
Hrmmm that sounds interesting...you should creat a how-to thread and wouldn't it work much better if you had the iPhone turned in landscape so you can use the cover flow view to quickly browse through playlists. If you don't want to create a how-to...go ahead and post some pictures fo how it looks so we all can see. I was looking at creating a horizontal type dock for the guys that don't have the Nav and place it in the pocket below the stereo and it would even work for the iPod touch. Thanks for the info though![]()
USB is 5v, the back of your cig lighter is not 5v. If you're saying you straight connected the power wires in the USB cable to the cars 12v supply without a transformer them I'm surprised you haven't already cooked the iPhone.
