soon to be 08 aveo5 caputer

well after my eby701 took a crap all over itself and then my trucks organs started failing left and right, i traded it in for an 08 aveo5.

just mocked up a fitment of how my screen will look when its done. i like it a lot. and i think i know where my mp915 is gonna go too. replace the ash tray and cig lighter. dont need those anyways. well maybe the power.

im thinking of using my glove box to house my mp915. and get the center console arm rest thingy to use as my glove box. for those of you that dont know, the aveo doesnt have a center console armrest with a storage bin. it has an armrest on the drivers seat only.

ill post a picture up of the armrest later when im not on a goverment computer

Since this is a work in progress, I've moved the thread to the Worklogs forum.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Well apparently the 08 is completely different from my 07. But then again I do have the sedan and not the hatch. Looking forward to seeing more of your install, I'm hoping to start mine as soon as my inverter comes in and I find a deal on a touch screen.
Out of curiosity what are you planning on doing with your stock head unit??

yea, i think anything that isnt an aveo LT has a completely differnt dash.

im just going to set my stock unit aside to put back in when i trade the car in when it hits either 30k or 3 years is up. the stocker is just the am/fm radio. it sucks.

well i just found out i am getting that tax rebate and that its gonna be a pretty decent amount of change. and a portion of that is going towards that DD VGA screen in the making. that will complete my aveo screen problem. ooooo i cant wait!

I know exactly what you mean when you say that it sucks.

Yesterday I mounted my pc in the trunk. I don't know about your aveo, but mine has a foam thing that sits on top of the spare tire so after a little measuring and cutting I mounted by pc on it. This way it is fully removable and lifts straight out for easy maintenance. I will post pictures later. I should stop posting in your topic and start my own work log. sorry.

I wish I was getting a rebate check.. unfortunately I am not eligible because I was claimed as a dependent last year.

well i have already started cutting up and foaming a spare center console to hold my mp915-b. my scrren is going to be tough to deal with and fit in place. it crams in there well, but it wont stay. i would like to have it secured in place. i will hafta fabricate a mount for this screen. all while still using the lcd housing. its all ready to go in, but i am mostly working on getting the software side of things working correctly.
