First post here, and if anyone is from the Mazda6club, I'm angel120 from there.
I've been reading around this forum for a few months now (since Octoberish) and I have been dying to get my hands dirty. Back in Jan, I bought all the parts for my carPC (everything is listed in my specs), but I've been going soo damn slow. As a "prototype", I've been using my Inspiron E1505 laptop for GPS and testing out front ends, but since it has Vista, RR is buggy as hell. I recently downloaded Digital FX 3.0, and it keeps crashing, and won't let me integrate iGuidance (even though the first hour or so, everything worked 100%).
A friend from the Mz6Club owns a custom car shop, and he fabricated a mapbox mount for my Lili EBY701, it's a solid, manual mount. Works great, and I have the monitor set to power on automatically.
I have a 15' VGA, 2 15' USB cables, and a 15' RCA cable with Y adapters to 1/8" male.
I have a M3-ATX 125W coming in the mail (delivery expected on thurs, 4-10-08).
My plan is to have music (radio is optional, I can't possibly care less about it though), GPS, rarely videos/DVDs, WiFi (maybe for traffic and weather, idk), and phone support (ONLY if I can get my BT headset to pick up the call instead of my car speakers).
I also have my BU-353 GPS antenna mounted inside my gutted interior 3rd brake light (I have another 3rd brake light mounted in my spoiler). I get a signal instantly, and it's entirely hidden, which is always a plus.
Pics of everything will be up tonight, God willing.
