    No spoiler for me.

Speaking of mounting GPS's, How are you planning on getting the USB cable to the back of the car? Do they make 5m long USB cables? Or can you make up your own cable and terminate it with USB connectors?

you can do either. Remember my PC is going to be in the back of the car, So I don't have that problem. I think the max length is 5m. The option is to use a hub as a repeater.

BTW, nice work on the screen. I can't wait to see it finished... i actually just bought a double din lilliput case today....

I am planning on putting another shelf underneath the rear parcel shelf, so that I can put a few USB things on there, like GPS, wireless modem, TV tuner + antennas maybe even an external HDD so I will be placing a USB hub there. They will be hidden from sight there.

sounds good. When do you think it will be finished? I wouldn't mind having a look.

I'm hoping I can get most things done in the next couple of weeks, so at least it will be usable for music and gps. I will still have to buy an amplifier and FM tuner, maybe next pay cheque, well the amplifier will be first priority. I will live with the stock speakers for now, they aren't too bad, until I save up some cash for some decent speakers.

I still need to find a suitable paint for the interior piece. I'm not too fussed if I can't get it to match the rest of the interior, i think a satin black would look ok. I just don't want the paint to wear off, crack etc. Does someone make a paint specifically for car interior plastics?

Just got the Bulgin switch. At AUD$18 a pop it ain't a cheap switch, but it was definitely worth it, just look how pretty it is.

In the US, we have Krylon Fusion and Rust-O-Leum Plastic Paint. MP3Car members have reported good results with both, even on polyethylene, which is very difficult to paint. I don't know if those brands -- or their equivalents -- are available in Australia, but it's a start.

I seen that krylon stuff, and thats exactly what I need. But I am having trouble finding it in Australia. And I can't get it shipped over here from the states.

Yeah, tough -- or expensive -- to get aerosols on an airplane. Can you get it shipped by parcel post on a boat? Might be interesting to order a case and offer it for sale there.

It also might be interesting to Google "Krylon Fusion online" and see what online dealer pops up. Maybe one of them has a way to do it . . .

Thank you rdholtz. I found a wholesaler for the Krylon fusion paint in Australia, Victoria. Their website is http://www.birchhaby.com.au/ The person on the phone also said that some Spotlight stores might have some Krylon paints.

They only have a few colours, and they only sell them to you if you have an ABN. I bought a couple of cans of gloss black. They sold them to me for around $11ea, and $12 shipping. Should be here for the weekend.

n00b alert that found your worklog via googling when looking up some info for my S14 Silvia and OBD compatability, found your thread so I thought i'd say a howdy doo and compliment such a nice S15 and install and join up to the forum to see if I can pick a few nuggets of info up aswell - so hi

i'm currently gathering info for idea's on how to best make use of my INf G4 and any possible OBD compatability with the Nissan ECU and although I am running an XP setup at the moment so i'll keep checking in on this thread.

without meaning to hijack your thread, heres a link to what i've done which I uploaded pics of to the SXOC ( Nissan owners club in UK )
