Lupo GTI Carputer Install

ok, so i have been scouting the forums and searching for a few months now and i have purchased pretty much everything i need to build my car pc. i spent today installing the motherboard, PSU (M2-ATX), the dvd rom drive, the gps reciever, and most of the cabling required.

the sub and amp install was already in the car. i installed this a couple of months ago and had a fair idea i was going for a carputer so left room in the boot to build my pc.

here is a quick wiring diagram sketch i made up. although i will post some pictures up sometime this week.

took a couple of photos today, i have built up the pc and got all the wiring in the right places.

this is the boot, where everything goes.

this is the box where i built my pc

i have wired it all up and the power supply works, it powers up on ignition and then powers down when i turn it off.

BUT...

when i connected it all up, the monitor just showed 'no input signal'

Any ideas?

Have you got the monitor on the right input?

Have you set the computer to output the correct resolution?

Have you tried plugging it into a normal monitor?

ok so today i connected the pc to a proper desktop monitor powered by 240v and nothing shows on that either!!! any ideas?

It appears that the P4 socket isn't connected to the power supply. If you're running a P4 or some AMDs, you need to power the processor through that. You can get a P4-to-Molex adapter here (and in the UK, I bet).
Is it going through POST (Power-On Self-Test)?
Is the hard drive making its normal working sounds, and the only thing different is "no video"?
Was this a working motherboard before this installation, or is it fresh from the box?
I don't see any fan on the processor, and the heat exchange fins aren't aligned with the fan you have in the side of the case. You're depending a lot on that one fan. Any chance the processor overheated?

i was told it was a fanless processor, although running a fan into the case would be a good idea, so i did. i have pulled the motherboard brand new out of the box but the led's light up and the fan works. the hard drive makes a noise when power is supplied for about 2 seconds then doesnt make a sound after that. whats the P4 socket?
and how do i know if it is going P.O.S.T.?

The P4 socket powers the processor. If you click the link I sent for the cable, you'll see a picture of the plug. The matching socket on your board is right in from the parallel port. Some processors -- Intel P4 and some AMDs -- use it. Without it, you have a live board, but no CPU.

If you have a speaker plugged in to your board, you can listen to the POST code beeps to tell what's happening, or what the problem is. Google "POST code" and you'll likely find a list of what the beeps mean. They vary by manufacturer.

What's your processor? Does the manual suggest that you may need to power the processor?

I have an AMD Sempron Mobile processor. I had the same problem -- no joy -- and it turned out that I'd forgotten to power the processor. I'm hoping it's that simple for you.

my board has a 4 pin plug hole the same as the power supply, do i need a link between them?
