It came, infact right after I made the post they told me it had arrived, lol. The PC is running, but the project isnt going like I want, and its all because of money difficulties. I really hope this reccession starts to go away soon. I am trying to find a part time job, dedicated to paying my car and its goodies. Thanfully there is a mall opening up close to my current job. I guess all local post offices suck, im to the point were i'd rather pay FedEx or UPS then postal.

Yesterday I drilled the holes for the new SSD. It also sits upside down, next to the HDD. Once I get it all in, I am considering using a method called EWF and HORM, which only use the drive to read but to write, it holds it all in Memory/RAM. This allows you to avoid corruption. The HORM is what is needed inorder to hibernate using EWF. Thanks to Kimota for explaining it to me..... I hope i got it right.

Well I installed my SSD and it was a f#c&ing nightmare. If I ever have to do this again i'll die. First I installed the OS then had to call Microsoft to validate the thing. I then started to update the OS, but it was working all clunky. My PC wouldn't download the South Bridge Drivers. I said screw it and redid the OS again, but this time I installed anything that had to do with the MoBo. All its on board drivers installed and working. The PC still had some lag, so I took the advice from Salmizar from the CF forums and turned off page files in the OS. Now it works flawlessly. I started to slowly install all the devices, got HD Radio, XM, AMP_CTRL and OBD2. Basically all the serial devices. Tomorrow I will slowly install the USB devices, starting with the USB Relay that didn't work before on my Car PC. Once all the devices are installed I'm going to make a Image of the OS, so in the future, I can easily restore. I tried Shadow Protect but it wouldn't work. I'm going to try to find my Ghost CD.

Here are pix of the plastic plate that holds the HDD, and SSD over the PC. It actually helps to reflect air down into the PC. Even at max, the HDD, SSD cannot even get warm.

For some odd reason the HDD needed to be reformated to get it to work. Everytime I would copy something over to it, then access it, it would say the file is locked. The folder had over 20gb of info but in properties it said only 556mb of stuff was there. So something must have happened. I put all my MP3 back on, also all the video game ROMS, and .flv videos and shows. I decided that I didnt want to keep all my shows on the media center, because if my internet connection goes out, I have no way to access it. So all my shows are now on my CarPC. Took 2 hours to transfer over. I still have BattleStar Galactica and Stargate to put on the PC. Only thing I left on the on the Media Center is all my porn since I have 200GB of that and not enough room, lol. I am maybe going to look into a 1TB HDD, that way all media can go on the PC. I am also trying to figure out how to redo my center console, so I asked RDHoltz for help http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/work...-links-35.html. In the end I decided to make a hybrid metal and MDF enclousure. The sides will be metal for strength, and the middle will be MDF. Once done, Nexon will fiberglass the whole thing. I also ordered my Hinges, will get them in about 2 weeks.

Today may be a good day...... I wrote to Namcogames.com, which is like a mobile phone department of Namco. For months I have wrote letters and emails to all their departments, but never received an answer back. I decided to email them, since it wouldn't hurt. When I got home I had a email from Namcogames press release department.

    Here is my letter:

    To whom it may concern,

I am a very big fan of Namco. I started my obsession with the release of Ridge Racer for the PS1. I then purchased Ridge Racer Revolution, Rage Racer and Ridge Racer Type 4. I liked the extreme arcade like feel that all the Ridge Racers offered, not to mention the catchy soundtrack that gets you even more pumped. Ridge Racer 5 then came out and I had to make a choice whether or not to upgrade to a new system. In the end the urge to have RR5 did me in and I bought PS2. RR6 came out and I bought Xbox 360 only to play RR6. I then acquired RR and RR2 for PSP, and finally RR7. I then started to buy games that were referenced on all the RRs. I bought all Soul Caliburs, all Tekkens, and all Namco Museum titles. The point I am trying to make is that I am a true Namco fan.

In making the above statement, I am writing this letter to get permission to design a life sized replica of a Ridge Racer car. I know that Namco has a life sized Raggio, but I wanted to design a SUV around 2 specific cars in the game. There is the Danver HiJack and Danver Bass Cruiser. I wanted to combine them and create a new car, dubbed the HiJack ZX1 Cruiser. The outside will be restyled to match the HiJack but in a SUV style, meaning it will not be a pickup truck. On the interior, a state of the art Car PC system has been installed. It features 7 touch screens, 7.1 theater surround sound, a ton of safety features, high speed internet, and best of all, the ability to play Ridge Racer arcade, Ridge Racer 2 arcade, and Rave Racer and any PS1, PS2 Game. The interior looks stock, you do not know that it can do all that it can do, which is a selling point to show that a Car PC does not require the destruction of the inside to be installed. The SUV will get a aggressive body kit to make it look more like a tuner car, something that looks like it would be in Ridge Racer. I also wanted to put logos on the truck to make it look like a HiJack. For example, the digdug, popka, pac-man, and other logos. I am even trying to find a company that will add an Astoroth logo to the tires. I am basing the logo set on the Phantomile HiJack in RR6. I am a huge fan of the Klonoa series also, so I went with that design. This is all being designed on a 2003 Dodge Durango SLT, which will be featured in several car shows when completed.

The only thing I need to know is if I can get permission from you guys to use those logos. It is no way being used for profit, but mainly to show my love and respect to Namco and its legacy, and to push more people to install systems in their cars like I did. It also provides free advertisement for you guys and shows you really care about your fan base. In fact if you guys would like, you can design a Ridge Racer scheme for me, and I will gladly use it.

I do hope that you write back to me. I would really appreciate a response. I really want to move forward with this project. I think this will draw more attention to Namco, and make a fan very happy J

    Kind Regards,

PS: I have tried to email and write letters to several Namco emails and addresses. I would really appreciate if you can write back to me. If this is the wrong department, can you please email to the correct one !?

    Here is their response:

    Hi,

Wow, sounds like quite the project! I’ve forwarded your request to our licensing and holdings group. They should be in touch shortly.

When it’s done, would you mind sending us pictures of your car? We’d love to post it on our various fan sights.

    Thanks,
    Bo

I am hoping and praying they allow me to use their logos. If they do I will use characters and logos to adorn my truck. Characters from Tekken, Soul Calibur, Klonoa, Ridge Racer, Dig Dug, Mappy and so many more.... Also Elesa (the hinge company), Centrafuse, Sprint, and a few more will be on the truck.

I'm not going to lie but that is probably the most interesting request i have seen in awhile. I can't wait to see the finished project myself. I would think they would send you the logos since it is non project and they will get advertising out of it.

I agree...... Trust me once they say yes I'm going to start bugging them about logos, lol. In the end though I will most likely cover most of the charges and stuff. I just really love Namco and it games. I do hate that they have merged with Bandai, but I simply represent by using the original logo. Ridge Racer is what got me into cars, so I have to show what got me into it. Plus Im hoping that if they like the car, maybe they'll add it to the next installment of the game, LMFAO.

You should have asked for sponsorship. Some companies will pay big $$$ for the advertising. Look at all the Red Bull trucks you see around. Lots of people at car shows play video games

Nice work HiJack. First time i've gone through all of your pics. How is that Patriot Drive working for you? I bought one of those too and use to think it was super slow because my boot times were terrible but then i switched to gigabytes motherboard and they have improved so much. Anyway i'll keep following this impressive project.
