87 Fiero GT

I got my brothers heavily modded 87 fiero gt with a built 3500 from an 06 malibu. I've always wanted one and once I found out about carputing0 I've wanted to do one to a fiero. well I have all the leftover carputer stuff from my truckputer, so I can start with this one later on down the road. I ned to finish my current project right now. my aveo.

Keep your fire extinguisher handy. The Fiero came to be known as the Fire-O because so many of them burned. I don't remember the source of the heat problem.

Neat vehicles, though. A neighbor has one, and he claims he'll drive it forever, or to the end of his life, whichever occurs first.

there is a fire extinguisher handy. the whole fire arrow thing came about because of a bad idea in wiring on the 84 ONLY. it was due to some shotty pushrods as well. all that was on the 84 irond duke (2.5 4 banger) this fiero is an 87 with a 3.5 from a 06 malibu. and carefully placed wiring.

the fiero is one hell of a car. pretty easy to modify and use other drive trains. since it is a fwd setup just tucked into the back. and because of its plastic body panels, it makes a great kit car. i plan on doing v8 archies wide body gt kit to it.

Glad you're out of danger. Your car has to be a pocket rocket with 3.5L in it.

I just told my neighbor (who has a Fiero) that you're planning a carPC for yours, and he said, "Hey, I like that." After looking at my project, he said, "In a Fiero, huh? What's the website?" I told him it would be a while before you got that project started, but he went and jumped on right away. Looks like you reeled in a new MP3Car reader.

I too liked the fiero's. Hard to find where I'm at nowdays though. I'd love to see how a fiero responded with the 3.5L setup from my Maxima in it. The Maxima seems to really haul a$$ on it's own...but the fiero is smaller and a lot lighter... sounds like good times with what you're doing to one

hehe, that is one of my purposes in life, to combine fiero buddies and carputer buddies together. 1 down, many more to go!

dyno run last year with a built 3.4 from a mid 90's camaro. it was a dissapointing run as it only came out with 190 ho at the wheels. pretty depressing after so much work and engineering and design that could be done with home hand tools was put into it.

oh, the car has been converted to distributorless ignition and has the 7730 ecm swap done to it.

No objection from this member -- it's gonna be a carputer recipient, so it clearly qualifies for presence here. Well, clearly qualifies to me, although I don't make the rules . . .

How 'bout some pix of the dash and ideas on where you'll put the PC components?

Interesting that this car still looks terrific; GM did such a good job of styling that it holds it own after over 20 years.

This will be fun to watch.

ah yes, this will come next. once it stops raining..F'ing rain......ive always been thinking about how i would set something like this up in the fiero. it definantly does need a computer in there for data logging. cant tune since im running obd1 on this obd2 motor. i dont know the specifics of how it was done, but it works haha. just sending signals from sensors to the ecm and just plugging up some of the newer sensor holes. i do need to toss together my carputer that is of course running xp into this car so i can data log to get me a new chip made since laptops with vista will not work correctly with the ALDL cable and data logging software.

as with my blazer setup and the one im doing for my aveo, the display will be fitted like a double din headunit so it is also removable with ease. finding a place for the mp915-b will be tough since i need access to the cd/dvd drive and in a fiero there arent many places to fit the computer. off the top of my head, i am thinking in the map pocket on the dash.

ill definantly get pictures of the dash and interior.

havent done much with the fiero. im working on the wiring harness for the engine right now. gotta get a good working 7730 harness, get the car going and tuned (be a while cause of tuning) tehn i can drive it a lot, get tickets, enjoy it, and then when im tired of the monsoon deck i put in, put a carputer in there. that will probably be a few years. gotta enjoy what i have now
