The A/c console looks removable. and the space below the double DIN is now useless and paneled.

I am focusing on this part. has anyone of you guys worked on the same spot for mods with fiber or other reshaping materials?

I'm not familiar with this car, but it appears that you're on the right track. If the climate controls can be moved -- that is, if the cables & wires can reach or can be extended -- and if the bezel is removable, and if it's a material you can work with, then it's easy if you have the skills or can develop the skills. But easy is relative, and each thing that gets in the way, and each new skill you have to develop, makes it less easy. Still, meeting challenges and developing skills is part of the fun. Good tools make things easier, and a good work area helps, too.

My Scion xB looked like it would be easy, but it turned out the dash is polyethylene, which very few things adhere to; I'm learning to plastic weld the bezel, an interesting process. Moving the mechanical and electronic parts around is somewhat easier, and I've gotten to learn something about sheet metal work. Along the way, I've acquired some new tools, too: a rotary tool (Dremel-type), a much better soldering system, some sheet metal tools, and some small files. I'm more familiar with the layouts of the local hardware stores and home centers, too.

I like the idea of moving your climate controls to the bottom and either moving the head unit up and putting the screen below it, or putting the head unit lower with the screen above it. Having the screen higher makes it easier to see, but it attracts more attention, and that isn't always positive.

Have you taken the bezel out to see how parts are fastened in? Have you looked to see what underlying support system is in the dash, and how you could mount the parts you move or add?

Once you get the parts out, you can see what system is used to control the a/c, and if it's easy to move.

Pictures in various stages of disassembly would be helpful in getting suggestions. I had my dash apart five or six times, just looking around and gathering ideas, before I started modifying.

Again, I don't know your car. An important step is to determine what material was used to form your dash. That will determine which materials are most appropriate. Once you know what materials could be used, there's a lot of applicable information here and on other forums.

As I am in the planning process, I haven't remove anything yet and I am outside the city for job from time to time. I didn't have access to the car to get some interiors photo right now but as I make progress I will make sure to post them. Just to give some ideas as what the type of the car is, I will attach some exterior of the exact car.

Although moving the screen to top and moving the A/C controls down is a good idea for readability, I don't think design-wise it will be a good idea.

What I am thinking or better, visualizing is that I make some mods to the Double DIN for the xenarc display and put a DVD ROM/RW in the screened part. I mean by removing the plastic cover. This car has so many types with options and I wonder myself what that screen is for.

Since I have the option of moving a head unit elsewhere like the glove box, I think there will be enough space for a 7" screen in front of the double DIN and a DVD drive on the angled screened part which is the lowest.

Thanks. Well that's encouraging. Meanwhile being in another city, I can't do anything to it rather planning on paper and consulting others.

Fortunately I have all the manufacturers manuals and documentations for the car so de-assembly process and put the parts back is less challenging.

I tried to find the exact car on mp3car.com but no one did what I am going to do. so either is a dead-end or requires more time modding. I am open to any ideas especially regarding the shown car. It's a great car by the way. it deserve a good computer system.

I want to bring up a question for everyone already experience with it:

1. Kindly list the comparison between Xenarc and Liliput products. What are the pros and cons. and I am not talking about the motorized or folding versions just the stand-up touch screen ones.

That's probably best answered by sending you to the LCD forum; the question is often debated there. You'll find lots of opinions and get an opportunity to decide which comments are most useful in making your decision.

To make it even tougher, there are brands such as Dynamix and Shark, and probably others I haven't run across.

It'll be interesting to see what you decide and why.
