Keep up the good work. Looks like you are doing exactly everything I've done to my mustang. I was able to sneak in a slot loading DVD/CD burner right under my 7 inch. Nice to have access to a CD rom like an OEM unit.

One thing I ran into which I see you have the same issue is the bondo breaking. Bondo is not supposed to be used to join and fill in two different edges. It only works with smoothing out bumps and uneven surfaces. You will need to use something else to join console and monitor case together like epoxy or resin. I finally got it right on my 3rd version. 1st version I took the monitor out and it stopped working and the new monitor didn’t fit the old case. Version 2 I used a head shroud so I don’t have to open the case and I used bondo like you did. Looked good for the first 2-3 months then it started to show crevices and cracks where the two joined. 3rd version I removed the bond and used epoxy that can handle the expanding and contracting and only moderately used bondo to flatten out the surface. Hope that helps.

Getting back into it, years later

Well, I've graduated college and real-life has got me bored at times so back to work on the car PC. I'm looking for ideas... I posted this image before:

Does anyone have ideas about how to cut that whole section out where the ash tray is and construct my own piece? I want to put my volume knob and maybe just an open usb slot or something there. I was thinking maybe make the piece out of wood and covering it with an epoxy or something to make it look like a dash piece. What do you guys think?

    Today

Today I took out my monitor because I just ordered a new touch screen because mine stopped working. I'd decided to get rid of the buttons on the right and the little swoosh that came with the stock design of the lilliput. Well don't ya know when I pulled the monitor out to look at where the touch screen panel is, i noticed it wasn't fulled connected....I pushed the pieces closer together and now the touch screen works! Looks like I'm going to have to pay the 15% restocking fee to send the touch back.

To remove the holes where the buttons were I found this 3M platic metal material at Wally World that has been very easy to work with.

I also have been using it to smooth out around where the AC controls are because I must have gotten carried away with the dremel before and it was very wavy. Trying to do everything right this time with a smooth paint job. Before I used a textured paint to hide the imperfections.

Any updates to this? Interested to see how you came out... I'm trying to get some ideas together for a 95 mustang I just got.
