It will take longer to dry than fiberglass, but in the end it will be one piece chemically, rather than two or three different pieces glued together if that makes any sense.

You might also want to get a small squirt bottle (think ketchup and mustard bottle but a little smaller.) to make it easy to apply. Maybe practice with a piece you cut off to see how it all acts.

Alright I added the ABS cement on and now im letting it dry before I sand it and then add some more coats. While I wait I modded my radio kit so that my HDD Media Player sits in the pocket din beneath the head unit. Im thinkin of closing the sides so it will look more flushed. Ill fill that up later

once it dries (couple hours) you'll be able to take normal sand paper to it. make sure it's nice and hard, because uncured ABS will gum up the sand paper and you'll have to do it over.
I like to start with 120 grit, then go to 220 then 600. You'll need to paint it because it turns grey when you sand it. Krylon fusion works well and actually bonds to the plastic, plus they have a texture paint to make it look like it came that way, oh and it's chip and scratch resistant too:

glad to help and spread the word about the ABS cement, this stuff is great, it is cheap (under $10 for more than most would need) and easy to use (apply, let dry, sand, apply more to low spots, dry, sand, done.) and is the same kind of plastic as most screen bezels and a lot of dash pieces. Way better than FG and/or bondo, etc that will just end up (possibly) cracking down the road a few months or years later.

You work fast, but this stuff has to be close to cured before you take the paper to it. I'd say overnight would be safe, but at least 5-6 hours if you just can't wait. The rule of thumb I've used is this:

    1/16th" thick - 4 hours
add 1-2 hours (depending on ambient conditions) per 1/16th" after that.

So if you have 1/4" thickness, I'd say it would take 8 hours or so to dry.

In the posts linked above, it was about 8 hours for the first layer and the subsequent layers were thinner, so only about 5 hours each time.

Aight so I sanded then filled sum holes then sanded and then sanded some more. Jeez, its so time consuming and I still dont think its perfect yet. Ill put sum pics up tommorow. Ive been super busy. Also I decided to do away with my original HDD Media Player and I bought a more expensive one. This one I can take my Maxtor Hard Drive out of its case and install it in the media player. So now I dont have to power the media player and the hard drive seperately, I can just combine the two.

Question for Monkey: Do I need to use primer with that paint you recomended

As you can see I still need to sand more but its coming along nicely and the HDD Media Player i ordered looks much better that the cheaper I bought already.
