It'll take a little extra time, but I guarantee that it is better than doing it out of fiberglass.

So, no. No primer needed. If the shade of black isn't correct though, you can spray pretty much any color spray paint on top. The fusion will bond to the dash piece, then the next layers of paint will bond to the paint layer beneath it. Fusion has a dry time of 60 minutes, a recoat window of 24 hours, and a cure time of 7 days, you have to spray each additional layer within the recoat window, otherwise you have to wait until it's cured. If you spray layers between the 24 hours and 7 days, it will crack and antique, and ruin the paint.

I picked up some 2423 satin river rock (gray) fusion for my bezel, and I hope to lay some paint tomorrow. I'll be using it as primer between the bezel and the Mopar paint that will go on top. I'm going to end up with a smooth surface, so I have to be pretty meticulous with filler. You will probably just want to texturize the piece, and can be a little less meticulous.

Congratulations on the new baby, I know they take up pretty much all your free time, but it is worth it for sure, just remember; family before hobby.

First and foremost, congratulations on your new baby!

Now the next most important thing, I am brand spanking new here and I can not thank you enough for giving me some brilliant ideas for my 98 Explorer. I am going to start looking for hardware right now to go in my X!
