2001 suburban

I started off with a 1.5 din. cut and stretched it to accommodate a 7" lilliput touchscreen. This is the first time i am modding so be kind with your remarks lol. here are some pics, the bezel is 99% complete. There are some imperfections but I can live with it for now.

Next I had to decide on where am I going to put the brain of the unit and how am I going to power it up. I looked around for the center console to my truck since I have a bench seat. They were going for too much on eBay, so I built one out of ¼” I had laying around. Although, I do recommend using at least ½ plywood. I used a piece of old cardboard I had to make a rough shape to contour the dash. After I got it the way I wanted it I transferred the template to my ¼”. After a few test fits and trimming I was pleased with it.

Hey Diggla,

I have an 01 suburban also that I am starting to build a carpc. Its nice to see someone else taking this on in the same vehicle. Maybe we can help each other out and bounce ideas.

Search around a bit for other suburban installs. I have bucket seats and a completely hidden install in the center console for my 02.

Had some time today to try and rotate the lcd screen in the second monitor. Not to easy without cutting the case so the board will fit. Decided not to do it, went to my home computer which has a nvidia controller and it allows you to rotate display. Rotated the display and movies play good. There are other software out there which would do the same thing. Eeerotate and irotate, both are freeware and if the new video card doesnt work as planned will try these programs.

Since it is raining out and I could not put my bay window in I decided to work on the truck.

Pulled the overhead light consol out and the dash bezel.
Started to redo the dash bezel, wasnt to happy with it. Here are some pics from round 2 lol.
