It could also be that you sent a surge through your system and its damaged something, including your HDD. Thats why when you do the wiring, you do it in a way that keeps all the wires safe.
The first was used. This last one is brand new, but it's a Western Digital, so... Ya. But I'm getting ready to do diagnostics to see if it is indeed a bad driver.

You have a valid point HiJack. That's why I'm downloading UBCD right now to run tests and I'm running MemTest86+ to make sure I didn't fry anything

The repair brought it back to life. I ran a check on the HD and the history in the SMART tells me it all overheated at some point or another.

I guess... I ran UBCD's WD diagnostic utility, and it's a confirmed dying HD. My next will be an SSD, either through a 32GB CF card(I have one I was going to use as an iPod HD, just need the CF to IDE or SATA adapter) with HORM or an Automotive grade SSD from Mo-Co-So...

I think I know whats happening..... I don't think your PC likes being on its side, it cant circulate the air correctly and the OPUS and PC must be generating alot of heat. We have to get that new case going, did Saul look at my design? I would build it, but I know its going to take me a long time because of work, family and my own PC build (I have so much fabrication its not even funny anymore). From the pix, rdholtz case is just to small, and alittle too thin for comfort, that is why the over heating issues are happening. I would stop using the system till that case is either modded for superior air flow, or the case I came up with is built. You don't want to risk breaking anything else and having to take the chance of replacing everything. Heat is a really big deal. Even if you get a SSD, you will still have chances of something else over heating and breaking. So I would address the heat, make it #1 priority.

Is there room for the system in the dash, or do you plan to keep the head unit there?

The HU is staying just in case situations like this happen, I can't stand to drive in silence... HiJack, Saul did look at your design, but he has been busy. Have you made any changes since you posted those pictures earlier? I'm gonna get my data off this drive, and switch to my 32GB CF card, I just need an adapter. That will make things a lot easier if I need to take it inside for some reason. I may shoot for a 64GB, but at this point, idk...

I may have missed this, but is there any external air going into the case? If the fan is just circulating hot air, that won't cool the system. You need good, open paths for cabin air to get into the PC and exhaust air to get back to the cabin, preferably somewhere away from the cabin air intake.
