CarPC project is on hold for now. I'm still waiting for my MoBo to come back. I found an old joystick in a box of parts one of my mom's friends gave me. It's a Logitech WingMan Extreme Digital 3D with the throttle control. I am going to modify the handle to be my shifter knob for my car. The buttons will serve as controls in Centrafuse through mapped keyboard shortcuts in Joy2Key. I have a lot of fiberglassing ahead, so that may wait until Christmas break to even get started on that...

If just enough is really good, then too much ought to be perfect.

The case is fully cured. I just need to put a couple more coats to get everything shiny and solid. The first coat just soaked into the cardboard (as was the intention...), so after these next couple of coats, I should have a nice solid case to put my new MoBo... Intel should have my old MoBo tomorrow or Friday. Hopefully they send the new one out to where I can have it before the holidays so I'll have something to do. Christmas is gonna pretty much suck this year. The only thing that may happen is me getting an upgraded sound system for the Turtle. I've pretty much trashed my current one...
Intel just received the board about an hour ago. I got a UPS notification on my iPhone letting me know. I have three reports (and a book for one report) to finish tonight and turn in tomorrow... I may try to get some work done on my shifter while I take breaks from glaring at a computer screen for hours on end... I've been stressing so much lately because my reports are due and finals are coming up. I haven't been getting much sleep either...
Updates:Finals (or midterms, whatever you want to call them) are coming up this week. I should have some free time because Wednesday on I get out of school at 1:30, unless my mom ruins that for me. I finished the shifter knob, I just need to situate the joystick controller board somewhere where I can get to it easily, and I'll also have to put a short throw shifter in or else the controller sits even with the height of the steering wheel... I'll probably get the short throw shifter and my custom shifter knob on tonight, and, if we're lucky, pictures too!Christmas:
My mom told me a couple months ago that she would consider helping me upgrade my stereo in the Turtle. This past weekend, she informed me that she would put out $200 to help me out. So... I ordered this. With my next paycheck, I'm going to order: Wiring kit, Speakers. Maybe this key... Saul offered to help me install everything. So, maybe the Turtle is finally coming together... *knock on wood*
Gosh I havent been on in awhile. Congrats on the stereo setup. Me, I am not a BOOM BOOM person, so the amp and subs are uber overkill to me. I have never understood why people like attracting people to their care by making it loud. Plus with my setup, there are to many things that can go wrong with so much vibration.
What happened with the case?

3x Perixx Touchpads
3x 7 inch Screens
1X 7 inch motorized Screen
1x Win 7 PC
I have a functioning CarPC now! I'm installing Windows 7 on it right now. Hopefully the 16GB SSD can handle it... XP booted in 15 seconds with a 3 second POST as soon as I got the board out. It's late, I just stayed up to get the Windows 7 install started. I'll post pictures tomorrow after I've had an adequate amount of sleep.
I am posting from the CarPC. I still have it on the test bench. I will add pix later. I am still in the process of putting all of the software and music back on. I found that my Intel D945GCLF supports Aero graphics, and they look nice! Hopefully I am looking at a 30-45 second cold boot by the time I get everything tweaked. I am experimenting with Hybrid Sleep vs. Hibernate vs. Standby as far as using the CarPC with the OPUS is concerned...
My setup inside the box on the test bench:

I also used CloneZilla to make a backup image of my setup, just in case... Thanks HiJack and skeet2331 (see the conversation starting here)
