I've had my XMPCR in my room since New Year's Eve because I wanted to listen to Pop2K, Hits 1, BPM and Area's countdowns for the top songs of the past year, and I've been using it through my surround sound system. I started thinking of a way I could build a dock of sorts so I could easily take just the XMPCR, no USB cable, no antenna, and move it from car to my room. Just snap it into the dock and go. I will disassemble and examine my XMPCR sometime this weekend, hopefully. I say hopefully because I get to install a new washer and dryer because our old ones started pouring out smoke this past weekend and the new one are coming in tomorrow, but we can't make the trip to Roswell to get them until Saturday... That's my only real free day now that school has resumed.

The Turtle got a much needed upgrade today. I switched the headlights out from the OE sealed beam H4666's to some new H4's. They are significantly brighter. Sorry, it totally slipped my mind to take comparison pix, but they are nice. I had to make a sort of conversion kit for them to fit though...

I took the diagram posted here.
and applied it to the H4 sockets from AutoZone here.
I used these on the ends on the pigtail coming off of the sockets and, using the diagram for the conversion, plugged the ends into the respective plugs on the OE socket.

Replacing the headlights was pretty easy. It took about an hour. The front grille had to come off, along with the corner lights, but it was just screws, no clips to deal with.

now you just need to do a HID retrofit.

Best thing to do is go onto Cardomain.com and see what people have done to their Tercels. Alot of people on Cardomain seem to go into great detail with what they have installed. Maybe you can find a kit they use.

    I suggest hidplanet

As far as projectors, depends how much you want to spend and if you want separate low/high or together.

I did separate low/high with Lexus RX350 AFS projectors for the lows, and regular halogen highs (so I can still flash). I might actually be upgrading to a quad setup soon with some Acura TL bixenons for extra low and solenoid driven highs.

As far as the casing, I put mine in some ebay casings as it was easiest, but a lot of people use good shrouds like the gatling guns one. Just take a look on hidplanet's pictures.

Retrofits are nice because you get complete control over what you are doing. The light output is exactly same as OEM because you are using OEM parts to project the light. You dont blind other people since the cutoff is OEM to even better than OEM. For example, I have Acura TSX clear lenses inplace of the Lexus RX350 AFS's Fresnel lenses. This gives me an extremely sharp or blue cutoff depending on how I position it. So high bright white on the ground, large lexus blue cutoff. What all the ricers want, but cant have! lol. I used Denso ballasts and phillips bulbs instead of chinese crapola.

So really off topic for this forum, but I can answer any questions if you have them. I must say the two best things I have done to my car were the CarPC and my HID retrofit. And I am in my car for roughly 5 hours a day so I have plenty of time to critique it.

Be forewarned though, it is like a drug. Now I stare into oncomming traffic's headlights trying to figure out what make/model it is from the cutoff and light output. I can find a pnp (plug n play) kit very easily and now makes me angry, sad, and laugh. Also it makes you feel really good when you pull up next to some car with those really blue lights that they cant see anything with, and your lights flood their output and have a razor crisp output line.

I have been working on the XMPCR slowly, but surely. I'll post some pix of it when I get home from school today (hopefully...).

One of my batteries went flat on me when I started the car the other day (it was cold outside: 4 degrees F!) and never built back up... Took it to AutoZone, it has dead cells. As a direct result of that, I have no computer or stereo right now. Everything ran off of the second battery. My alternator is also on it's way to the scrapyard. That is a welcome ordeal though. That gives me an excuse to upgrade my alternator from the stock 70 amp to a high-output 120 amp. I'll probably go ahead and get another battery while I'm at it. I had to kiss my dad's *** (not literally!) to get him to OK the alternator... It's gonna cost around $165 plus whatever it takes to get it shipped.

Got the pix uploaded finally. Took a trip to Lubbock, TX on Friday, got back yesterday around 8:30pm Mountain time. I had fun.

This was my XMPCR (I got bored one day and drew on it with sliver Sharpie)

Taking the XMPCR apart, this is what you are presented with:

I replaced the green LED with a blue one (only the finished pic there, sorry...):

I also modded the case for the dock I am building to make it easier to swap from the car into my room (still need to finish sanding):

I cut out the logo and put some clear plastic behind it for the LED to shine through, but it's not bright enough. I tried putting another LED in there, but it wouldn't light up... :

I haven't started on the dock, but I probably will tomorrow, since there isn't any school.

Ordered a 165 amp alternator, it should be here tomorrow, and I plan on installing it Saturday. I also had to get a new battery today. Stereo is back up and so is the CarPC, I'm gonna have to reformat again... shouldn't take that long. CloneZilla FTW!

Careful with H.O. Alternators. Sometimes they only output high current at high RPMs, and LESS than the stock alternator around regular city driving/idle rpms. At least this was the case when I looked into it a while back. My stock one has been fine
