    2004 G35 Install b3tts mobile 2.0

Well after buying another car and dealing with stock navi (and more importantly without a carpc) for a month or so the time has come for me to dive back into putting one in. I had an 2001 GTI with the a carpc that suited me very well.

Moving forward here is a pic of my new ride..

The plan is to pull out the navi stock screen and the dvd rom and install the carpc in the upper cubby hole. I'm planning on purchasing the g35 housing from here. I plan to sell the Navi system and dvd system for $800 so if you're interested or know anyone that is let me know. I upgraded the maps disc to 2008 so hopefully I can offset some of the costs. I'm open to offers too.

As far as the hardware goes I'll probably everything from the previous install and put it in the new one. I looked into getting one of the newer Intel board because I have an extra core2dup laying around but figured I'd just stick with the Jetway board for now.

I guess my biggest issues will be location of the pc and installation of the g35 housing. I've read a lot of different places that the housing is made specifically for non navi versions of the radio cage so I guess I'd need to see what's different. Has anyone pulled out their screen and went with the housing? I've seen a lot of double din installs but hadn't seen anyone that has replaced the navi with this housing.

Down the road I will look into replacing the speakers and getting my sub put in. The 4080 boxes look pretty cool but I figure I need to get this done first.

Here's a quick run thru of parts w/ links for anyone that's interested.

Hard drive - seagate automotive grade hard drive

    Keyboard - ps3 thumbpad http://www.amazon.com/Playstation-3-...4125075&sr=8-3

    Memory - 1gb ddr2

    OS - Windows XP

    Front End - Centrafuse

I'll go with pac's unit to get audio thru the cars auxiliary port and I'll probably get the steering wheel control unit as well.

I'll post up pics once I get started with the install and any and all feedback is always welcome. Thanks

Looks like I'll be going with pac's swi-x. Did you have any better solutions?

I looked into the pac swi-x, but I don't want to have to use IR. Looks like I'm going with the Fusion Brain. I should be able to use it to auto dim my screen with the illumination wire and increase the volume with the speed wire also.

I'm doing something very similiar to what you are doing on an 05 G35. I've already removed and sold my Factory Nav system and have decided to go without any radio (I have an aircard so I listen online). I'll be bypassing the Bose factory amp and using a Kenwood 4 channel amp I have lying around. The biggest pain for me is mounting the screen,I have the JDM DD and I want it to look OEM (Flush).

FYI, make sure you get the lower cubby from who ever decides to buy your Nav. I it out "just in case" and the price ranged from $450 - $600

Are you maintaining the factory radio/bose system? I do have a fusion brain laying around but didn't think about it. I purchased the pac aai nis2 and it seemed like the swi-x could just plug right into that.

I think I will end up bypassing my bose amp down the road when I get a 4080 box and a sub put in but I just want to get it up and going for now. How's your mounting coming along? I looked into the jdm and metra kits before I bought the g35 housing.

I did buy the the cubby that the non nav cars have from g35driver. I'm actually just looking for that storage compartment that goes above the upper glovebox area.

I'm getting rid of the stock headunit, but will be using the bose amp and speakers.
