Has anyone explored the new iOS 4 iPod out feature?? BMW is using it to integrate the iPhone/iPod into their iDrive system. I think with the iPhone 4 and iOS 4 the tech savvy people on this board may be able to make the iPhone into the Carputer many of us have been wanting......
Not to bump an old thread, but is it possible to do what you are trying to do with an android phone?
It may be possible with an Android phone, but I haven't heard of it. Nokia has something SORT OF like this with their terminal mode but it hasn't really caught on as far as I know.
With the introduction of the iPad, I have moved on to using it as my primary car PC as it has a great touch screen with good brightness and all of the iPhone functionality I need. You can read about the install in my worklog here.
I know this is an old thread, but this may help you out a lot
bluetooth stack for iOS that allows touch screen input, and can't think of any other way.
I'm dying to do this as my iphone4 and lilliput are fabbed into my dash now, but I simply use the iphone's touch screen for controls.
My first reaction is "fake". I saw another video like this that turned out to be fake. I went on carcomputer.co.uk, looked for this option and haven't been able to find it.
Why didn't he explain how it works?
Perhaps the fact that he was jailbroken had something to do with it? I could see using the JB app Display Out ($2.99) to see the content on the other monitor, but touch... that's interesting. Also noted that it seemed to not work really well towards the end, which imho could be a sign of fakery.
If it helps I found it here:
Engadget.com is NOT known for posting anything fake. Unlike the onion
And this link was in the comments on a guy integrating the android to a carpc.
