Or if you like symetry then have a USB port vertically either side of the Power button/LED.
Then you could convert your cigarette plug back to a 12V outlet for powering something like an ipod or phone.

I sized up my mobo in the front and even though it technically fits...it doesn't leave much room to work with things once you start running wires and cabling..blah..blah. Regarding the HDD LED that is a possibility but I may just install another LED on the other side. About the 12V outlet, my car has two of them and I am going to leave the current one as is, but may use the other outlet for accessories. The one that it currently installed I use for connecting my cell phone. I have a dash mount for my cell phone which I prefer in front of me when I'm driving. It's a Windows Mobile HTC.. after my CarPC installation is complete, the next phase is integrating my mobile phone as a backup media player/CarPC...planning on the Omnia II which has Video-out functionality. Even though I can't control my Phone from the in dash monitor it will be great if I were playing movies on my phone and viewing them on the 7" dash monitor rather than the phone display.

Anyways regarding the USB port location in my pic, it is possible that they will be mounted elsewhere..depends.

I think you're taking a wise approach, going with the area that gives you the most room to work in. That would mean you can get good airflow to the system, and it'll mean you won't bust your knuckles while installing and upgrading.

I created a post under the Mobile Device forum section about capabilities of upcoming or recent Verizon pda/smartphones.

To avoid cross posting as much as I can I will just basically state that I found out that the new phones will have open GPS and open Wifi for use with the new 4G network next year. Can't wait..

Still waiting on the last few components to be delivered before I can start my build. In the meantime tonight I edited my MP3 ID3 tags. So now that's all done... I played a little more with Centrafuse.

I need to figure out that Chameleon plugin. It would be nice to change the background of that aura skin. I viewed a few of those video tutorials for VisualDesigner on their website. Thats a real nice product. I may look into that down the road once I have things nice and stable.

I'm excited because today I should be receiving few more parts for my project. I'll be getting my LED switch, Green 5mm LED, switch cable and fan filter.

As if things weren't already messed up with FedEX, to add to it..I received my order today from FrozenCPU. The envelope was cut and the power switch was taken...no it did not fall out, the packaging for the switch was still there..just no switch inside.

Fortunately FrozenCPU are cool enough to send me a new one. This time by USPS. I always have issues with FedEX.

On the bright side..I can test out my LED.

Well I connected my Greed LED to the HDD LED mobo header. It's nice and bright as you can see.

Interesting. We do 90% of our shipping with FedEx because we have so many issues with UPS. And, where FedEx has done a good for me personally, UPS has crushed a PC so badly we only salvaged the hard drive; they claimed it was badly packed, and I guess it was -- we didn't know it to be crush-proof.

If you point out the damage to FedEx when they deliver it, the driver will note the damage, and you can file a claim; in some cases, the shipper will handle everything.
