LMFAO, yup thats how you know you drive a chryselr/dodge. I have a huge cup of screws and have no idea were any of them go.

Hehe, I wish I had a nice big garage, my cousin has a 3 stall garage (heated AND air conditioned) that would be PERFECT for a CarPC type project.

I do have to say, for as many frustrating, delays, set backs, and everything else that have accompanied this project - it has been a fun experience. Having said that, however, when I went over to the neighbor's house to bum that piece of fence off them for the M4 - and explained what I was doing with the project one guy asked if I'd put one in his car when I got done with mine. I didn't respond to the question simply because if his audio stops working or if his screen isn't looking quite right or any little thing, who do you think is going to be the one to fix it? He'll call me. That'd suck.

Also, received an E-mail from MP3Car's store:
    Hello John,

    Your order has shipped.
So I need to run over to UPS before they close yet today and get that old M4 sent back.

To me, 2nd Day Air would mean tomorrow (First day today, 2nd day tomorrow, Wednesday) but I'm sure it means Thursday. All my other cables should be here Thursday as well so here's hoping!

So on Tuesday I boxed up the M4 and sent it in Wednesday morning. Per the instructions I received for the RMA from the MP3Car Store, I was told to "Double Box" it. I luckily had received two boxes from Newegg at work that fit this tall order just fine.

For the "Inner Box" (IB) I did a bed of peanuts, set it in, and then stuffed peanuts between the IB and Outter Box (OB). Then I put a bed of peanuts in the IB, put the M4-ATX in an anti-static bag, sealed it, wrapped it in bubble wrap and set it on the bed, put the wiring harness in a ziploc baggy designed for a DVI cable, and put peanuts around all the parts. I sealed the IB, printed off my paperwork for the orders/RMA tracking and placed them on the IB. Sealed the OB and printed the shipping label with the RMA clearly visible on the shipping label, not handwritten but rather typed, as requested.

The replacement arrived today. In a single box. Photos taken with my Piece of Crap Motorola SLVR, (BlackBerry to arrive tomorrow ). One of the pins is bent on J5 - but luckily that one is "For Internal Use" - I'm sure it'd be fine if I had to use it, but for $14 in shipping, and the strict requirements I had in sending it back, I'd have hoped for a bit better packaging job I guess. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy that MP3Car is working with me on this, and took back the other M4. Just kinda felt like the return process demanded a lot on shipping when they don't stick to those rules themselves.

The real test will be when I place it in the car and attempt to power the PC up. As a side note yesterday I noticed a really loud THUMP noise whenever I turned left. I dropped the car off at the mechanic last night and this morning when they pulled it in the garage the wheel fell off. Tie Rod, Ball Joint, yeah both gotta be replaced. Sucky more repairs, it's like my car knows I'm trying to add a PC to it and it's refusing for some reason

Well I'm crossing my fingers, but I am sure it will work. Maybe they had you send a double box because they simply used the inner box to send back to you? It is funny though that they had such harsh requirements but what you recieved back was kind of substandard for my taste. The bubble wrap doesnt even look inflated, lol. It sux that my install is at a stand still. Im so eager to get going!

I'm at a stand still until I free my car from the mechanic, if that makes you feel any better

They used a different box, because I don't think they've even gotten mine back yet. I paid for a new M4 up front with 2nd Day Air to try and get it here before weekend due to a trip I was planning this weekend. But car repairs are going to bump that trip outta the picture so :/

Also, the 35' VGA cable just got here! woot! Just need audio now and I should be good to go!

35 inches? Thats only 2.6 feet? or do you mean feet? If it is feet, 35 is alot of f$%king cable.....

    35' - foot, inches is the "

Yeah, I have to have at least 25' to wrap the cable nicely from front down along trim and into trunk, then over to side with the computer. I'm running it opposite the power. I didn't want to get the 25' cable then find out I needed another foot to run it the way I wanted, and the only next step up was 35'. I'll have room to hide the cable though behind carpet in my trunk.

So the 35', yes FOOT VGA extension cable came in from MonoPrice today. $10. Not bad really, considering Best Buy wanted $50 for a 10' one. It is a heavy cable, very nice. The only problem is the female end on it has male screws, no standoffs. So I pulled the bolts out, and removed the standoffs from a spare game port on an old sound card. They fit for the VGA bolt, but not in the hole on the extension. So I'll either need a small dab of solder to hold it in place or have to find a standoff with a bigger bolt.

Again, crappy cell phone camera so forgive the quality of the photos.

It looks like you have M3 threads on the male end there, and you probably need 6-32 threads. Hit your local computer repair shop. They'll have a parts cabinet or a parts tub, and -- if you're lucky -- you can dig through it for what you need. Even the repair guys at Best Buy may have something useful. You'll have to be sure the internal threads match what you have. Some of them come with different internal and external threads.

You might also look around for an old serial extension cable and see if that has what you need, and look on the back of old expansion cards to see if the right ones are there.

If just enough is really good, then too much ought to be perfect.
