Concorde Version 2

I don't think it's the M4, I think it's my idiocy when it comes to wiring.

I'm using an on/off rocker switch (this one) to simulate the ignition.

I finally figured out that the light for the LED is basically the 1, and then the other side is the 0. So now I know which direction is on/off.

Then I finally found the small etchings on the side of the rocker that show which is the accessory/ground/positive.

I wired it all up like the guide says - but I couldn't get the motherboard to power on.

I did notice that when the desktop PSU is on, the D2 light on the M4 blinks. It's the little LED right next to J6. It's not a rapid blink, there's a delay. I think it's trying to power on but then shutting off.

*sigh*

if you work alot on carpc stuff, this is a really good method to do the same thing.
convert your psu into a lab bench psu, so you can basically simulate your car battery.
very useful to do any sort of testing.

That's pretty slick, what I was hoping to create for myself was a setup similar to the VoomPC-2 power connector using the molex parts I got from Digi-Key. This way I could quick connect any desktop PSU to the car PC. But I hit a brick wall with that as well.

I might give that guide a shot this weekend if I can spare some time out.

I agree..... when I first built my system I benched it and did that mod. After install number 3 though, it was useless because everything was so tied into the car. On rare occassions I would run a extension cord to the car and use the PSU trick, but after awhile i couldnt even to that, lol.

Nice install. You should have kept the thin client and use it as a secondary PC. I just bought 6 for my car, so people can do little things like listen to music, surf the web and watch movies personally. Only things they have to share is Sat TV (Sling Box) and Video games and Video DVD use through a 19 inch.

Well I don't have a big SUV like some people

HOWEVER, my son and I are planning a trip to Blizzcon this year, and we might end up driving. I'm thinking that I would buy a 2nd touchscreen for the back (Was going to just do a regular LCD in the back) and run the touchscreen into a pico setup for the backseat. Something simple that can watch videos, I'd network the two computers and they could share internet/music that way.

I do still have the Thin Client motherboard, I just did a little modifying to the case of the Thin Client - I need to do some more cutting though to make the big 'ol ATX connector fit better.

The concorde is pretty big..... Trust me though my greed for having a large system has taken away all storage. The pockets in the doors will have the thin clients, a seat had to be removed for the main PC and the back compartment will house a ethernet switch, all that wiring, 2 additional PSUs. Its just a nightmare, but I guess I like it, *does look of fear*. What size are you looking for. i know a company that sells 15, 17 and 19 roof mount LCD flip downs. They are very resonably priced. I had there 15 inch before I hacked it apart trying a failed project. The way I go around the non touchscreen issue is a Windows Media Remote that also has a built in mouse to navigate regular browsing. When looking through the store make sure it says VGA in the listing somewhere. Below are links:

Looks like they only sell the 19 inch with VGA. In the past it was the 15, 17, 19 that had the VGA. You can buy the 15 inch and i can send you the adapter cable to make it VGA.

I guess I don't have the cojones like you do HiJack. I think once I get this initial fully integrated carputer done I'm gonna just enjoy it for a bit.

I do like that 19" screen, just a bit out of price range at this point. I still need to buy my 7" Touch.

Thats what most people do. Eventually though I plan to show the car in car shows. i want people to be amazed and not be able to say "my car can do that too" lol.

Compared to other companies, its actually cheap. Other 10 inch VGA flip downs go for a amazing $579.00 plus. Now thats crazy and over priced. It basically equals the cost of two & inch touch screens. Have you figured out where the 7 inch will go? If you drive a concorde it means you have that $h!++y 1 1/2 double din like I do. I had to have Nexson redo my bezel to get my Lilliput EBY701 to fit. If you look up Sharpton on Ebay, he sells EBY701 for $172.95 with shipping.

For now I'm keeping my headunit, so I haven't fully figured out how I'm going to mount the touchscreen.

Do you have pics of your Concorde bezel redone? It is that 1 1/2" :/

My initial thoughts were to wait and take the touchscreen up to the hardware store to figure out what parts I need to make a mount for it to sit just in front of the headunit. I was thinking to make it so I could quick release the LCD if I needed to take it in.

i dont drive a concord, I drive a Durango, but they all had that nightmarish 1 1/2 din slot. Nexon basically extended the bezel up. I did away with the headunit since it acts like a middle man and I couldnt have 7.1 surround sound. Here is a picture, i know for a fact that someone did a concord, I will find it for you...... Here are pix of my dash. I decided to make the screen look like a headunit to look more OEM.

PS: Here is greatwhite's thread. He has a pretty nice setup 2004 Chrysler 300m Special. You can see how he put his in. I think if you take the screen out the bezel you can intergrate it into the car bezel better.
