Looks like things are coming along nicely!

I am close to installing my CarPC into my 300c.

When you figured out the steering wheel controls, did you find a way to use the next track buttons to respond to changing the music while in the main screen (the one that displays what direction you are going, current music station, etc..) vs. being in the fuel consumption screen where the next track buttons are used to toggle through different screens? Sorry if that paragraph is confusing lol.

I think I understand. I'm usin software written by another guy on here so I'm not sure until I get it all in the car. My guess is that the canbus msgs aren't sent while ur in that screen so that's y the stock radio doesn't switch songs and why the software won't get em either. We ll see tho. I'm on my phone but I'll post a link to it when I'm on a pc.

On a side note speakin of the screens. On the steering wheel hold the compass button and music note button at the same time for 10 seconds. U get into a secret menu w lots of info n on the 07s n up like mine it's got a 0 - 60 mph timer, digital speedometer n lots of other stuff.

Well I am anxious to find out. I was getting worried that my steering wheel controls would be gone for good. I am going to be using Centrafuse though...Gonna have to look for some sort of plugin for the canbus with Centrafuse I guess.

Ya I found out about that screen, its pretty cool. Haven't seen the 0-60 timer though.

The steering wheel commands are sent even when in other screens, but with a flag saying that it is in a different menu... If I'm remembering correctly.... In my code I ignore those button presses because the EVIC still responds to the commands. That won't do

I've been working on that code a bit more... I've got a C# version that uses a better implementation of the RideRunner APIs.

Nice progress.... I'm waiting for it to get warmer so I can finally install my system...

I'm also looking for anybody who doesn't use their Sirius satellite anymore. I want to buy their cable harness for it... I'm having a hard time locating it.... and I don't feel that $100 is the proper price for less than 10 wires....

Well that seems like there is hope then even still...I hope that whatever your findings and final results can somehow be applied to Centrafuse...I will be giving riderunner another shot though, especially if it is impossible to get the steering wheel to work with Centrafuse.

Why Sirius radio? I'm not too familiar with newer radios, but I was planning on picking up an HD radio for the CarPC because of the lack of fees. Although the right HD radio tuner is expensive at the moment at 180...

rtgree01 is the one that made the software (as u can probably tell from his post). If you can program I'm sure Ryan wouldnt mind you using his software to make centrafuse plugin with it.

I'm gonna guess you want just the wire harness to tap into the canbus and speakers at the sirius sat unit rather than the radio harness?

I dont have sat radio so I can't help but theres gotta be someone not using it anymore over on the lxforums that would sell it.

Is the C# version in the subversion depot on canhack Ryan? I wouldnt mind checking it out.

Oh ya Fanta check out canhack.org, its not very active anymore but theres tons of info on there about the canbus and all that. Thats where I picked up Ryans software.

The C# version is not yet out on Canhack's svn..... I'm still working with it... also, are you doing the skinning? or are you hoping to use something I'd provide....

That is the one thing I hate about creating a plugin..... skins..... you have to either provide the commands to all the users of the plugin and have them modify the skin they use, or try to do that and a modification of several skins.....

    Which skin are you using?

Regarding the Sirius cable harness...... Since my computer will be in the trunk, I would like to use those wires to go from the trunk to the front (CAN bus, and audio). That way, I don't have to run them all the way back from the front.... I also don't want to trash the existing wiring.... Also, I really like Sirius radio. I got it free for a year with the car and decided that it was worth the money. I have a directed HD radio that I'm going to put in as well.... I've got info for that on my worklog if interested....

    BCasey,

Yea I have seen that site and I did notice the lack of recent activity. Once I purchase a canusb I will definitely take a closer look at what's going on over there.

    rtgree01,

Well I am using the default Centrafuse 3 skin for now. There is a skin being developed for the 300 that I might use as it takes accents from all around the vehicle and nicely comes together in his skin, but I may not use it because I am planning a few interior mods that would make that skin look out of place. So I am most likely sticking with the default Centrafuse 3 skin.

So really I guess if I take a look at your work for your plugin for Riderunner, I can have my friend who is a programmer help me out with integrating into Centrafuse 3, unless of course if you had some plan on doing so. I am just glad to know there is a chance of having good steering wheel functionality.

So ya Sirius is great, a friend of mine has it and I was impressed. I suppose if I had a trial I would get hooked as well. I take it both of you plan to use the stock audio system? I figured I might as well upgrade the whole audio system while doing the carpc project...and adding sound deadening...and a sub....making it more and more complex lol.

I'm glad I ran into you guys. Good to discuss these things with people doing similar projects!

FantaXP7: I have had a few people request a centrafuse plugin.... I'm not sure when I'll have time. I haven't experimented with it because of the expense... although they do seem to have a pretty good product....

If I get time, I will look more into it.... it can't be that difficult. Life changes though.... i'm trying to sell my house, a kid is on the way, and time just doesn't always seem to be on my side

    We'll see....

    rtgree01,

I understand completely. But in the future if you do find the time to try, let me know, I will at the very least help with the cost of Centrafuse.

I am in no rush at all to get this done but do hope to at some point. Also I have never had someone help me out with software like this so I am more than happy to make some sort of contribution.

But again, if you find the time and are willing to try.
